Polystyrene paint production process

FIELD: varnish-and-paint industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to paints based on polystyrene film-formers, which are used to protect metallic, concrete, ceramic, wood, and asbestos-cement surfaces against atmospheric corrosion in various industrial fields. Process comprises dissolution of polystyrene in solvent followed by stirring it with fillers and pigments while simultaneously affecting it by ultrasonic oscillations with frequency 150-250 kHz.

EFFECT: reduced polystyrene dissolution time, improved spreading capacity, increased (thrice) strength of film, and enhanced (twice) waterproofness.

The invention relates to the field of production of paintwork materials, in particular based paints polystyrene film-forming, which protect metal, concrete, ceramic, wood and cement surfaces from atmospheric corrosion in various industries.

Known to produce polystyrene colors, where as the use of film-forming polystyrene (Ahiram "Protective paint coating", M.: Chemistry, 1982; p.78-79).

The essence of the methods of obtaining polystyrene paints is preparing 14-25% solution of polystyrene (varnish) solvent: toluene, solvent, xylene and other solvents. The prepared varnish is mixed with plasticizers, pigments, dyes, fillers, various modifying additives and used as a finished product for the application of protective coating (material) coating - paint. The quality of mixing (milling degree) depends on the quality of the paint coating. At this stage, use special equipment: kraskoterke, bead mill, ball and others

However, despite a long time of mixing, the resulting polystyrene paints have a low luster.

Closest to the present invention is a method of obtaining a polystyrene paint by dissolving Polist the Ola in a solvent and mixing with pigments and fillers (see THE 67-371-81. Paint the polystyrene).

The disadvantages of this method are the duration of the process of obtaining polystyrene paint, and their low rates of coverage, the film hardness and water resistance.

The technical result, which sent the invention is to reduce production time paint by reducing the time of dissolution of the polystyrene, as well as improve coverage, increase in the hardness of the film and its water resistance.

To achieve the mentioned technical result in the production method of polystyrene paint by dissolving polystyrene in a solvent and mixing with fillers and pigments on the dissolution of polystyrene, mixing it with fillers and pigments is simultaneously affected by ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 150-250 kHz.

Distinctive features of the proposed method is the simultaneous effect on the dissolution of polystyrene, mixing it with fillers and pigments, the ultrasonic oscillation frequency 150-250 kHz. This influence of ultrasonic vibrations allows to reduce time of dissolution of polystyrene 3 times, significantly improve the opacity, to increase the hardness of the film 3 times with water and 2 times.

The method is as follows.

In a mixture of the spruce, equipped with an ultrasonic waveguide, download waste polystyrene foam PS-1 and PS-4 on the EAST 605-202-83 or other types of block and emulsion of polystyrene according to GOST 20282-74, pour the solvent, stirred for 12-15 minutes and is simultaneously affected by ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 150-250 kHz, DeGroat first filler, mixed with the influence of ultrasonic vibrations of the same frequency within 45-60 minutes, then DeGroat pigments, the process is conducted also under stirring and the influence of ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 150-250 kHz within 30-90 minutes. The contents stirred until complete dissolution of the polystyrene ˜3.5 hours.

For testing the obtained composition was applied on the sample surface (metal, wood, concrete), was dried at a temperature of 18-22°C. the Samples coated with paint was tested for opacity - GOST 8784-75, the degree of milling method "wedge" - GOST 6589-74, the film hardness by pendulum device - GOST 5233-89, the resistance of the films was determined by placing a sample to 2/3 of the height in distilled water and kept at 18-22°C for 0.5 hours, then the sample was taken out, dried filter paper was kept in air at 18-22°C for 2 hours, and then examined. The film must not break, peel, wrinkle and bubble.

Example 1. For Paul the treatment of polystyrene colors of blue in the mixer, equipped with ultrasonic waveguide loaded 5,1% (17 kg) of scrap from waste polystyrene brand PS-1 OST 605-202-73, 74% (247,2 kg) xylene technical GOST 9949-76, mixed with the simultaneous influence of ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 155 kHz for 15 minutes, then dasarahalli 16% (53,4 kg) titanium dioxide, mixed, continuing the influence of ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 155 kHz for 45 minutes, then dasarahalli 49% (16,4 kg) dry blue, mixed, continuing the influence of ultrasonic vibrations of the same frequency for 30 minutes with constant stirring until complete dissolution of polystyrene, then conducted the test results presented in table (paint No. 1).

Example 2. To obtain polystyrene paint gray color in the mixer, equipped with ultrasonic waveguide loaded 5,8% (12,9 kg) waste polystyrene foam according to OST 605-202-73 (chips, dust), to 73.55% (164, 8mm kg) xylene technical GOST 9949-76, mixed with the simultaneous influence of ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 225 kHz for 12 minutes, then dasarahalli 19% (42,6 kg) titanium dioxide, mixed, continuing the influence of ultrasonic vibrations of a frequency of 225 kHz for 60 minutes, then dasarahalli 0,55% (1,23 kg) soot gas and 1.1% (2,46 kg) minium iron dry, stirred under the same influence of ultrasonic vibrations often is th 225 kHz for 90 minutes to dissolve polystyrene, next conducted the test results presented in table (dye No. 2).

As can be seen from the table, the proposed method of producing polystyrene paint compared to the prototype allows to increase the hiding power 1.5 times the hardness of the film 3 times, the water 2 times and reduce the time of production of the ink 3 times, and consequently, to raise 3 times the performance of the paint preparation.

Were industrial tests were conducted at JSC "tatstroi Kazan, which confirmed the above results obtain polystyrene paint. Currently, the paint is put into production.
