Description

This application claims the priority of Korean patent application No. 1-2004-108774 registered 20 December 2004, which is fully included in the materials of the present application by reference.

The technical field to which the invention relates.

The present invention relates to a receiver for digital broadcasting (digital TV receiver etc), and more particularly to a device for word processing in the digital broadcasting receiver and method for this purpose.

The level of technology

As a rule, because the digital broadcasting technologies turn into a source of income, is transferred a huge amount of information. In addition, it is still difficult to select and/or view a particular broadcast or to extract certain information more quickly and accurately.

This can be a guide to the program broadcast, text broadcast, presentation, using computer graphics, the service providing continuous information and personal video recorder (below abbreviated as PVR).

Using the EPG (electronic guide on the program), the program can be found through the TV screen to easily postpone the entry or TV program is found or recorded to create the schedule view according to personal taste. Hence without difficulty is with the planned time schedule, the user can view a particular program at any time.

However, the method of the prior art has the following disadvantages.

First of all, if the user tries to obtain certain information from the digital broadcast, it looks digital broadcasting completely.

Secondly, in the case of PVR, the user can obtain information by selecting the time of viewing. In addition, the increasing demand for the system, such as the capacity of the storage device PVR to record channel broadcast. If the number of the necessary information is smaller than the viewing channel broadcast to obtain certain information, that time is wasted.

Disclosure of inventions

Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a device for processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver and method for this, which essentially eliminates one or more problems due to limitations and disadvantages of the prior.

The aim of the present invention is to provide a device for processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver and method, in which the text is included in the input data of the digital broadcasting receiver.

Additional advantages, objectives and features of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows, and will become apparent to experts in the field of engineering after studying the following description or m which may be explored in the application of the invention. The objectives and other advantages of the present invention may be realized and attained by the structure shown in detail described in the description and claims and the attached drawings.

To achieve these objectives and other advantages and in accordance with the purpose of the invention, as implemented and broadly described herein, a device for processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver according to the present invention includes a module to extract text, extract texts from the content data recorded in the digital broadcasting receiver, and the module text processing, processing the extracted text.

In another aspect of the present invention a method of processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver includes extract texts from the content data recorded in the digital broadcasting receiver, and processing the extracted text.

It should be understood that both the above General description and following detailed description of the present invention are exemplary and explanatory and are intended to provide additional disclosure of the claimed invention.

The implementation of the invention

Now reference is made in detail to preferred embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Where possible, will use the same reference numbers in the drawings to refer to same or like parts.

Referring to figure 1, the device for processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver according to a variant implementation of the present invention includes a module 10 extract the contents of the buffer 12, the module 14 text extraction module 16 text processing module 18 UI module 20 controls the storage device, the module 22 storage module 24 controls the display module 26 controls the external interface.

Referring to figure 2, the method of processing texts in the digital broadcasting receiver according to a variant implementation of the present invention includes operations 80-84 extract the contents and text and operations 86-96 text processing.

Module 10 extract the contents shown in figure 1, takes the data entered into the receiver of digital broadcasting via an input terminal IN, and decodes the received data to extract relevant content (operation 80). In this case, the data entered in the digital broadcasting receiver, means data received from the stream of digital TV broadcasting. The content extracted by the extraction module 10 content displayed in the module 14 text extraction via the buffer 12.

In the present invention, the content extracted by the extraction module 10 content means content for additional services, such as broadcast captioning and the like, as well as audio and video, as the main content, which includes text and provides a digital TV receiver in the service of digital TV broadcasting. This content includes at least one of a content title, content, subtitle, content text content of the broadcast data and the contents of continuous data for services such as news broadcasts.

For example, the module 10 extract the contents include with the BOJ, at least one of the module 40 processing titles, module 42 subtitle handling, module 44 processing Teletext module 46 processing broadcast data, the processing module 48 continuous data and module 50 processing other information.

Module 44 processing Teletext retrieves the contents of a Teletext decoding data received through the input terminal IN, and then outputs the extracted contents of the Teletext module 14 text extraction via the buffer 12.

Module 46 of processing broadcast data extracts the contents of the broadcast data by decoding the data received through the input terminal IN, and then outputs the extracted contents of the broadcast data in the module 14 text extraction via the buffer 12.

Module 48 processing continuous data extracts the contents of continuous data, decoding data received through the input terminal IN, and then outputs the extracted contents of continuous data in the module ithlete text through the buffer 12.

And, finally, the module 50 processing the rest of the information retrieves various types of content by decoding the data received through the input terminal IN, and then outputs the extracted contents in the module 14 text extraction via the buffer 12.

After the operation completes 80 buffer 12 receives the content extracted by the extraction module 10 content, temporarily stores the received content and outputs the result of the save module 14 text extraction (operation 82).

After the operation is completed 82 module 14 text extraction retrieves the text from content receiver of digital broadcasting, adopted from the buffer 12 (operation 84).

Alternatively, in contrast to figure 1, the processing unit of the text may not include at least one of the module 10 extract the contents and the buffer 12.

For example, in the case where the module 10 extract the contents are not included, the data entered through the input terminal IN, the feature extraction module 14 of the text through the buffer 12. If the module 16 text processing does not include any module 60 text or module 62 of the keyword search, the method shown in figure 2, does not include any operation 86 or 88. In the above device, text processing and method according to the present invention, the user can view the text extracted from the content of the titles on the screen or can be printed. Accordingly, the present invention provides the following effects or advantages.

First of all, if the user decides that the amount of information that is received, a little, considering the total time of viewing digital broadcast, i.e. if the amount of information obtained during all the time of viewing, small, or if the user is not able to view digital broadcasting, the user can get some information broadcast or simple and summarized information video using the text without watching the entire broadcast. Consequently, the user can efficiently retrieve information.

Second is that, looking for the texts, using the keyword, the user can obtain accurate and summarized information from digital video.

Thirdly, if the user tries to obtain certain information from a digital broadcast, despite the fact that you are using the PVR function and the like, due to the lack of time to view digital broadcasting, there is a problem that need huge storage capacity due to the continuous recording of audio and video signals. Therefore, the present invention prevents the occurrence of such problems in order to effectively use the storage device.

Fourthly, the text can be transformed in different ways to be saved or given out. Therefore, computer, or other mobile terminals may use the contents of the program broadcast.

Finally, the text is easier to be simply generated from the data using the content for additional services without generating. Therefore, the load of the hardware is reduced.

Specialists in the field of technology will be evident that various modifications and variations can be made in this invention without straying from the purpose and spirit of the invention. Thus, we have in mind that the present invention covers modifications and variations of this from the retene, providing their origin within the attached claims and their equivalents.

1. Device for word processing in the digital broadcasting receiver, comprising

module text extraction to extract textual information without browsing all video;

Mentioned method involves checking present time for its occurrence within time period depending on R date constituting permitted service rendering time; if present time is within mentioned period, check words are decoded and returned to decoder, otherwise definite sum corresponding to access time is withdrawn and R date equal to respective time interval is set.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, on basis of combined consideration of one or several available information sources - user preferences concerning viewing of television broadcasts, measurements of actual viewings of television broadcast, recommendations of broadcaster concerning the viewing of television broadcasts - a set of broadcasts is continuously created with denoting of numeric preference value for each broadcast, while for consideration of actual television broadcast viewings a viewing history database is created. On basis of data about preferred program schedule, digital television broadcast receiver under control of module for setting up personal channels continuously records most interesting broadcasts to hard disk. Personal channel is created - an automatically updated video buffer containing broadcasts of the last few hours which are most interesting for the user. At any time by means of friendly interface the user may choose a personal channel for viewing preferred broadcasts.
