Scope

The present invention relates to absorbent articles, such as bladder control pads, and in particular, the present invention relates to absorbent articles having a generally quadrangular cross-section.

The level of technology

Side leakage is a common problem of absorbent products used for incontinence. Flows produced urine can at some time to fill the surface of the absorbent product and to flow through its side edges. To solve this problem, some absorbent articles along the side edges contain assemblies of elastic elements of a design

Some absorbent articles have the Assembly of elastic elements along the side edges. Elastic elements are located far enough away from the relatively rigid absorbent core, so that they could be reduced while wearing the product. Summary of the invention

Detailed description of the invention

The present invention relates to absorbent products having improved leg cuffs. Leg cuffs may have a generally rectangular cross section, on�reamer, in the form of a trapezoid. After the product is applied by the user to underwear, the reduction of the elastic elements of the foot cuff makes a foot cuff to rise, and thus the absorbent article with raised side edges. If you use the product foot cuff is pressed against the skin of the user in the groin underwear of the user, and thus the sealing effect is created. In the context of the present description, the term "absorbent article" refers to devices that absorb and contain fluid secretions of the body, and, in particular, the products that are installed on the body, Il� in close proximity to the user's body to absorb and retain various body secretions. In the context of the present description, the term "longitudinal" refers to a line, axis or direction generally aligned with (e.g. approximately parallel to) a vertical plane intersecting the standing of the user wearing this absorbent article, on the left and right halves of the body.

In the context of the present description, the term "permanently bonded" means a compound which may not be separated without at least a partial violation of the integrity of one of attached to each other components.

In the context of the present description, the term "quadrilateral" means the form of a figure having four sides and four corners. In some embodiments coal� can be straight. In some embodiments, one or more of the corners may be rounded. In addition, in some embodiments the sides of the quadrilateral can be flexible.

In the context of the present description, the term "attached with the possibility of disconnection" means a compound, which suggests the possibility of easy replacement.

In the context of the present description, the terms "transverse" and "lateral" are mutually substitute each other and refer to a line, axis or direction lying in the plane of the absorbent product and generally perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.

In the context of the present description, the term "trapezoidal" means the form of a figure having four sides and four corners, in which there is at least one pair of sides parallel to each other.

Fig.1 shows a top view of the absorbent product 20 according to the present invention, from the side of the absorbent product 20 that is in contact with the user. As shown in Fig.1, the absorbent article 20 may include permeable to fluid top sheet 22, a liquid-tight back sheet 23 attached to the upper sheet 22, and an absorbent core 24 positioned between the top sheet 22 and the back sheet 23. To absorbent article 20 is attached to two leg cuffs 28. Leg cuffs 28 are located one on each� side of the absorbent product 20, being spatially separated with each other.

The absorbent article 20 has two surfaces: in contact with the body, or facing the body surface 20A facing to the garment surface 20b. Facing the body surface 20A is intended to be worn close to the body, and the surface 20b, on the contrary, is located in close proximity to the undergarment of the user when wearing the product. The absorbent article 20 has two Central axis, the Central longitudinal axis 100 and a Central transverse axis 110. Fig.1 shows that the absorbent article 20 has a periphery 30, formed by the external edges of the absorbent articles 20. Its longitudinal edges (also referred to as "side edges") are designated by position number 31, and the trailing edge (also referred to as just "ends") indicated by the position number 32.

Fig.1 shows one of the embodiments of the absorbent product 20, in which the top sheet 22 and the backing sheet 23 have length and width generally greater than the corresponding dimensions of the absorbent core 24. The top sheet 22 and the backing sheet 23 are extended beyond the edges of the absorbent core 24 and thus form a part of the periphery 30.

Fig.2 shows a partial cross section absorbers�about products 20 along the plane 2-2 (Fig.1), with leg cuff 28 in the raised position, for example, after the reduction of the elastic elements 45. In some embodiments, as shown in Fig.2, the absorbent article 20 may include an absorbent core 24 and/or the secondary top sheet 29. The absorbent core 24 may have any suitable configuration, for example, from one or more layers of a folded C-shaped, or any other suitable configuration. As shown in Fig.2, the absorbent article 20 may include an adhesive element 36 for fastening the absorbent product 20 to the undergarment of the user. In some embodiments the adhesive element 36 may be covered with a removable protective wrap to prevent sticking of the adhesive to other surfaces, except for the crotch area underwear to the use of the product.

As shown in Fig.2, the foot cuff 20 can have a rectangular cross section in the raised position. In some embodiments of the quadrangular cross-sectional shape may be formed in the upper surface 40, an inner barrier 41, an outer barrier disposed opposite the inner barrier 42, and the bottom surface 43 opposite the upper surface 40. On the whole upper surface 40, or only on a part of the upper surface 40 may be elastic elements 45.

Ka� shown in Fig.2, when the absorbent article 20 is applied by the user to underwear, the reduction of the elastic elements 45 in the composition of the leg cuff 28 makes the leg cuff 28 to rise. In the raised position, leg cuff 28 have a rectangular cross-section formed by the top surface 40, an inner barrier 41, an outer barrier and lower surface 43. In some embodiments the upper surface 40 and lower surface 43 are located opposite each other and separated from one another when the leg cuffs 28 are in a raised position, and the inner barrier 41 and the outer barrier 42 are located opposite each other and separated from one another when the leg cuffs 28 are in the raised condition. Along the upper surface 40 or part of the upper surface 40 �can be positioned elastic element 45, so that it is generally parallel to the bottom surface 43 when the leg cuffs 28 are in the raised position.

In addition, as shown in Fig.2, the leg cuff 28 can have a height H, width W, and the volume 44. Under volume 44 means the amount of space that is formed when the cuff is in the raised position. Overall, the total volume can be determined by knowing the length of the open field, for example, part of the length of the leg cuff 28 in which the upper surface 40 is not bonded to the upper sheet 22 or another part of the absorbent product 20.

The inner barrier 41 serves to retain urine within the absorbent area of the absorbent product. The upper surface 40 is the surface of the foot cuff containing an elastic element. This surface has a sufficient degree of freedom for a good fit and provides the distribution of the tension force of the elastic element along the length, providing a comfortable wearing the product. The outer barrier 42 provides a second barrier against urine, if the urine will seep through the inner barrier. In addition, the outer barrier 42 prevents significant deformation of the foot cuff caused by warping, in which the cuff assemblies are formed facing towards the Central longitudinal axis of the absorbent product, the result of which can be blocked by way of the passage of the fluid to the absorbent material. In some embodiments the bottom surface 43 assists in lifting the inner barrier 41 and the outer barrier 42, in particular, due to the fact that it prevents contact adhesives of the underlying elements of a product with the surfaces of the cuff.

As shown in Fig.2, the leg cuff 28 may be attached to the absorbent article 20 in any suitable manner, e.g. by means of adhesive 50 and/or the corrugated thermospa 51 on the perimeter. In some embodiments the bottom surface 43 attached to the top sheet 22 by any suitable method, for example, by means of adhesive 52. In addition, in some embodiments a portion of the leg cuff 28 containing the elastic member 45 may be folded back on the leg cuff 28, whereby can be obtained an improved surface that is in contact with the body, such as, for example, three-layer contact surface 53. The portion containing the elastic member 45 may be folded and attached to the leg cuff 28 by any suitable method, for example, using adhesive 54.

As shown in Fig.3, in some embodiments of leg cuffs 28 include an upper surface 40, an inner barrier, the outer barrier 42, opposite the inner barrier, and the lower surface 43 opposite the upper surface 40; however, when the leg cuff 28 is in the flattened state, verstatotehmash 40, the lower surface 43, the inner barrier 41 and the outer barrier are folded with each other. As shown in Fig.3, leg cuff 28 may be attached to the absorbent article 20 by any suitable method, for example, by means of the adhesive 50 and/or the corrugated thermospa 51 on the perimeter. In some embodiments the bottom surface 43 attached to the top sheet 22 by any suitable method, for example, by means of adhesive 52. In addition, in some embodiments a portion of the leg cuff 28 containing the elastic member 45 may be folded back on the leg cuff 28, whereby can be obtained an improved surface that is in contact with the body, such as, for example, three-layer contact surface 53. The portion containing the elastic member 45 may be folded and attached to the leg cuff 28 by any suitable method, for example, using adhesive 54.

As shown in Fig.4, in some embodiments the leg cuff 28 can be secured along the absorbent product using the adhesives 61, 62 and/or 63, or other suitable fastening means, for example, by adding the leg cuff 28 on itself and securing the folded portion to the portion of the absorbent product 20. For example, in some embodiments of the folded back portion can be attached to the top sheet at both ends of the absorbent product, for example, with the help of� adhesive or other suitable means of attachment. This configuration prevents any lifting of the leg cuff 28 to the ends of the absorbent product, but allows it to rise in the Central part of the absorbent product.

In the manufacture of the leg cuff elastic strands may be provided in a state of stress by stretching. In some embodiments the elastic member may be stretched to a length comprised between about 200% to about 400%, such as from about 250% to about 350% of its length in the initial state. For example, in one of the embodiments of the elastic member may have a length x, and can be extended for extra length 2.5 x, so the final stretched length of the elastic element will be 3.5 x. In another embodiment the elastic member may have a length of x and can be extended for extra length 2 x, so the final stretched length of the elastic element will be 3 H. in Another of the embodiments the elastic member may have a length of x and can be extended for an additional length of 1.5 x, so the final stretched length of the elastic element will be 2.5 x. After that the elastic elements may be attached to the nonwoven material, for example, by gluing, for example using elastic adhesive tape or other suitable adhesives. In some embodiments the elastic member may be p�clean on a segment of any suitable length, component, for example, from about 100 mm to about 500 mm, from about 100 mm to about 400 mm, from about 100 mm to about 300 mm, from about 100 mm to about 200 mm, from about 150 mm to about 200 mm, or on any other segment of suitable length, located in the center relative to the length of absorbent articles. After cutting of the elastic elements on the edges of the absorbent product, they tend to shrink to its original length.

Nonwoven fabric leg cuff may be attached to the top sheet of the absorbent product, for example, using strips of adhesive that is applied in the form of a slit coating method, a bead of adhesive, ultrasonic welding or other suitable means of attachment. In some embodiments the nonwoven fabric leg cuff can be fastened to the top sheet along the periphery of the absorbent product, for example, by performing the corrugated thermospa or by using other suitable fastening means, such as adhesive.

In addition, in some embodiments a portion of the leg cuffs containing elastic elements, can be folded on itself and the folded portion may be continuous attached along the length of the absorbent product. Thereafter, the folded portion may be discontinuous manner attached to the top sheet at both ends of the absorbent product that will p�to patstwowej lifting the leg cuffs on the ends of the absorbent product, but it will not prevent its rise in the Central part of the absorbent product.

The absorbent core may be any absorbent material capable of absorbing or retaining liquids (e.g., menstrual flow and/or urine). The absorbent core has a surface, facing the body, the surface facing to the garment, longitudinal edges and end edges. The absorbent core may be manufactured from a wide variety of absorbing liquid materials traditionally used in absorbent articles such as comminuted wood pulp. The absorbent article may include an absorbent core designed to absorb and store the fluid secretions of the body during use of the product. In some embodiments, the absorbent core may be relatively thin, for example, have a thickness less than about 10 mm, or less than about 5 mm, or less than about 3 mm, or less than about 1 mm. Thickness can be measured by any means known in the art, upon application to the core uniform pressure of 0.25 pounds/inch2. In some embodiments, the absorbent core may contain absorbent gelling materials (AGM), including fibrous gel-forming materials known in the art.

The absorbent core can be bent to the desired shape, for example, it can be cut to the required shape so that its outer edge will form the periphery of the absorbent core. The absorbent core may have a generally rectangular, round, oval, elliptical, and similar forms. In some embodiments, the absorbent core may be composed of, for example, forming a fold of the C-shape. In addition, the absorbent core may be a single layer or may be a multilayer stack, for example, mo�em to be dual layer, three-ply and so on. In some embodiments, the absorbent core may be generally located in the Central product on the Central longitudinal axis L and a Central transverse axis T.

To prevent the ingress of body fluids on clothing of the user in some embodiments of the absorbent product may be impermeable back layer. The back layer may contain any suitable material such as, for example, polymer films and laminates type film/nonwoven material. To provide additional softness and water vapor permeability of the absorbent product on the side facing to the garment, in some embodiments the backing layer may be vapor-permeable outer layer on the side of the absorbent product facing to the garment. To ensure the softness of the product in areas that are in contact with the body, the absorbent product may be facing the body layer, also referred to in this description of the upper sheet. The top sheet may be made of any soft, smooth, well fitting, porous material, comfortable for wearing on the human skin and through which fluid can pass secretions, such as urine or vaginal discharge, for example, it may be made of fibrous nonwoven webs and can contain any suitable fiber, including, for example, two-component and/or core of the fiber. In some embodiments, the top sheet may also be permeable to liquid polymer film, for example, molded perforated film used in sanitary napkins, for example, the brand ALWAYS®.

Top sheet and/or the backing sheet may be in the form, the edges of which form the outer perimeter of the absorbent product. In some embodiments, and top sheet and back sheet to form the periphery of the absorbent product. In some embodiments, the absorbent core is extended in the lateral direction in the same degree as the top sheet or the back sheet. In such embodiments, the periphery of the absorbent product may be substantially greater than the periphery of the absorbent �of ardavin. Due to this, the area of the absorbent product between the periphery of the core and the periphery of the absorbent product can form a "breathing" zone, which can pass through the pair, and which will thus provide a more dry and comfortable wearing the product. All product components can be glued together using adhesives, including hot melt adhesives known in the art. Suitable adhesives are, for example, Findlay H2128 UN or Savare PM 17, and they can be applied using the system Dynafiber HTW.

Used absorbent product may be secured in its place by any suitable supporting elements or fastening means. In some embodiments, for example, the absorbent product is installed in the underwear of the user and attached to the crotch area underwear some fastening means, such as adhesive. In this part of the outer surface or even the entire outer surface of the rear sheet may be covered with adhesive. Prior to the installation of the absorbent product in place of the adhesive, pressure-sensitive, normally covered with a removable protective film which protects the adhesive from drying out or sticking to other surfaces than the crotch area underwear to the use of the product. Suitable protective films are described in U.S. patents 4917697 and 4556146. In accordance with the present invention may be any commercially available removable protective film traditionally used for these purposes. Non-limiting examples of suitable protective films include BL30MG-A Silox E1/0 and BL30MG-A Silox 4P/0 both production Akrosil Corporation (Menasci, Wisconsin, USA). A certain amount of absorbent products can be placed in the packaging. 3. The absorbent article according to claim 2, characterized in that at least part of the upper surface and the lower surface generally parallel to one another when the leg cuffs are in the lifted position.

4. The absorbent article according to claim 1, characterized in that any one of the following elements: the upper surface, the inner barrier, the outer barrier and the bottom surface is not parallel to one another when the leg cuffs are in the lifted position.

5. The absorbent article according to claim 1, characterized in that one or more of the following elements: the upper surface, the inner barrier, the outer barrier and lower surface - contain neganimation.

6. The absorbent article according to claim 5, characterized in that said nonwoven material is hydrophobic.

The absorbent article according to claim 11, characterized in that the top surface and the bottom surface are opposite each other and separately from one another when the leg cuffs are in the lifted position, and the inner barrier and the outer barrier are opposite each other and separately from one another when the leg cuffs are in the lifted position.
