FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to active compositions of a fabric softener. Described is a composition of the fabric softener, containing from 80 to 95 wt % of bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium chloride ether of fatty acid, which has a ratio of quantity of moles of fatty acid fragments to the quantity of moles of amine fragments, equal from 1.80 to 1.96, an average length of a chain of fatty acid fragments constituting from 16 to 18 carbon atoms and a iodine number, equal from 0 to 50, from 2 to 8 wt % of fatty acid triglyceride, which has an average length of fatty acid fragments constituting from 10 to 14 carbon atoms, and a iodine number equal from 0 to 15, and from 3 to 12 wt % of alcohol, selected from a group, including ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol. Also claimed is a method of obtaining the fabric softener composition.

The present invention relates to an active compositions softener fabric with a low content of flammable solvents, low viscosity and high stability in the molten state.

Quaternary ammonium salt containing two hydrophobic long chain hydrocarbon fragment, are widely used as active substances of fabric softener. Quaternary ammonium salts alkanolamines, esterified on average, two fragments of fatty acids in terms of one molecule, usually called Quaternary esters, largely replaces the previous Quaternary ammonium alkyl derivatives, due to their Biodegradability.

Bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride diesters of fatty acids, used for commercial purposes, it is inconvenient to use in a pure state, because solids tend to form clumps, and the melt has a high viscosity at low temperatures of the melt and poor stability at high temperatures of the melt. Therefore, bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride diesters of fatty acids are usually transported in the form of a molten composition containing not less than 13 wt.% ethanol or 2-propanol, which is when the tempo is Torah, equal to from 65 to 75°C., has a viscosity low enough that it can be pumped. In WO 2007/026314 also proposed to use an additional reagent combinations selected from the group comprising polybasic alcohols, partial esters of polyhydric alcohols, nonionic surfactants, in amounts of 0.1 to 15 wt.%. However, the composition proposed in WO 2007/026314, have the disadvantage that characterized in the molten state to the low stability against de the alkylation Quaternary ammonium salt, which leads to an increase of free content of ester amine during transportation and use in the molten state.

Therefore, the necessary active composition of fabric softener, which have low melt viscosity and high stability in the molten state and at the same time bad flammable.

According to the invention it was found that the active composition of fabric softener based on bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester derived from fatty acids with a specific chain length and a certain degree of unsaturation, and having a certain ratio of the number of moles of fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments, which contain a certain amount of triglyceride fatty acids containing a certain amount of has short-chain fragments of fatty acids, as well as a certain amount of alcohol selected from the group comprising ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol, are characterized by an unexpected combination of low melt viscosity, high stability against dezalkilirovania in the molten state and bad Flammability.

Therefore, the present invention relates to active composition of fabric softener containing

a) from 65 to 95 wt.% bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonio the chloride fatty acid ester, with respect to the number of moles of fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments equal to from 1.80 to 1.96, the average chain length of fragments of fatty acids comprising from 16 to 18 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 50,

b) from 2 to 8 wt.% the triglyceride fatty acids with medium chain length fragments of the fatty acid constituting from 10 to 14 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 15, and

c) from 3 to 12 wt.% alcohol selected from the group comprising ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol.

The present invention also relates to a method for obtaining such compositions, incorporating the following stages:

a) a reaction mixture containing from 78 to 95 wt.% bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-methylamino fatty acid ester having a ratio of the number of moles of fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments equal to from 1.80 to 1.96, the average chain length of fragments of fatty acids comprising from 16 to 18 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 50, from 2 to 9 wt.% the triglyceride fatty acids with medium chain length fragments of the fatty acid constituting from 10 to 14 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid, equal to 15, and from 3 to 13 wt.% alcohol selected from the group comprising ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol, with an excess of methyl chloride at a temperature equal to from 60 to 120°C, to obtain the reaction mixture, and

and the selection of unreacted methyl chloride from the reaction mixture obtained in stage a)by distillation of the mixture of methyl chloride and the alcohol, the condensation of the alcohol from the above-mentioned mixture of methyl chloride and alcohol and returning the condensed alcohol to the specified reaction mixture with providing alcohol content equal to from 3 to 12 wt.%.

The present invention also relates to an alternative process for the preparation of such compositions, incorporating the following stages:

a) a reaction mixture containing from 88 to 98 wt.% bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-methylamino fatty acid ester having a ratio of the number of moles of fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments equal to from 1.80 to 1.96, the average chain length of fragments of fatty acids comprising from 16 to 18 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 50, from 2 to 9 wt.% the triglyceride fatty acids with medium chain length fragments of the fatty acid constituting from 10 to 14 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 15, and 0 to 3 wt.% alcohol, selected from the group consisting of ETANA is, 1-propanol and 2-propanol, with an excess of methyl chloride at a temperature equal to from 60 to 120°C, to obtain the reaction mixture,

b) adding an additional amount of the alcohol to the reaction mixture obtained in stage a) with providing alcohol content equal to from 3 to 12 wt.%, and

c) isolation of unreacted methyl chloride from the mixture obtained in stage I), by distillation of the mixture of methyl chloride and the alcohol, the condensation of the alcohol from the above-mentioned mixture of methyl chloride and alcohol and returning the condensed alcohol to the specified reaction mixture with providing alcohol content equal to from 3 to 12 wt.%.

Active composition of fabric softener proposed in the present invention contains from 65 to 95 wt.% bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester. The composition preferably contains from 80 to 90 wt.% the specified air.

Bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester contains at least one of the fluids of the formula (CH3)2N+(CH2CH2OC(=O)R)2Cl-and at least one monoether formula (CH3)2N+(CH2CH2OH)(CH2CH2OC(=O)R)Cl-in which R denotes a fragment of a hydrocarbon group of a fatty acid RCOO. Bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester has a ratio of the number is Olga fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments, equal from 1.80 to 1.96 and preferably from 1.85 to 1,94. The specified molar ratio provides a good softening ability in rinsing the fabric softener.

Fragment of fatty acid bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester can be obtained from pure fatty acid or mixture of fatty acids of the formula RCOOH, in which R is a hydrocarbon group. The hydrocarbon group may be branched or unbranched and is preferably unbranched.

Fragment of a fatty acid has an average chain length comprising from 16 to 18 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 50. The average chain length is preferably from 16.5 to 17.8 carbon atoms. Preferably, if the fragment fatty acid has an iodine number equal to from 1.0 to 50, more preferably equal to from 2 to 50, more preferably equal to from 5 to 40, and most preferably equal to from 15 to 35. The average length of a chain is calculated based on the mass fraction of individual fatty acids in the mixture of fatty acids. For fatty acids with branched chain chain length is considered the longest consecutive chain of carbon atoms. Iodine number is expressed in grams the amount of iodine being spent on reaction with double bonds 100 g fatty acids, identified the i.i.d. according to the method of ISO 3961. Examples of suitable saturated fatty acids are palmitic acid and stearic acid. Examples of suitable monounsaturated fatty acids are oleic acid and elaidic acid. The ratio of CIS-TRANS-double bonds in unsaturated fragments of the fatty acid is preferably more than 55:45, and more preferably 65:35. The content of polyunsaturated fragments of fatty acids can be reduced by selective hydrogenation, which is a hydrogenation, which selectively hereroense one double bond substructure-CH=CH-CH2-CH=CH-, but not the double bond in monounsaturated hydrocarbon groups. Set the average chain length and iodine number necessary to simultaneously ensure a high softening ability and a low melting point composition. Alternatively, the necessary iodine number can be achieved by partial hydrogenation of a mixture of fatty acids or mixtures of triglycerides with greater iodine number. In another and preferred embodiment, the necessary iodine number provide by mixing a mixture of fatty acids with greater iodine number, with a mixture of saturated fatty acids. A mixture of saturated fatty acids can be obtained by hydrogenation of a mixture of fatty acids containing unsaturated fatty acids or from gidrirovannoe mixture of triglycerides, such as gidrirovannoe vegetable oil.

Active composition of fabric softener proposed in the present invention optionally contain what it is from 2 to 8 wt.% and preferably from 3 to 6 wt.% the triglyceride fatty acids, with an average chain length of fragments of fatty acids comprising from 10 to 14 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 15. The specified amount of triglyceride fatty acids and medium chain length fragments fatty acids are important for the simultaneous provision of a low melting point and poor Flammability active composition of fabric softener. According to the invention it has been unexpectedly found that a specified amount of triglyceride fatty acids also improves softening ability in rinsing the fabric softener derived from the active composition of fabric softener proposed in the present invention.

Active composition of fabric softener proposed in the present invention also contains from 3 to 12 wt.% and preferably from 6 to 10 wt.% alcohol selected from the group comprising ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol. The alcohol is preferably ethanol or 2-propanol, and most preferably 2-propanol. Active composition of fabric softener proposed in the present invention, can be obtained by mixing bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride fatty acid ester, triglyceride fatty acid and alcohol in specified quantities. The first method proposed in the present invention, includes two stages.

The triglyceride fatty acids has srednedlinny chain fragments of fatty acids, component 10 to 14 carbon atoms, preferably from 12 to 13.8 carbon atoms, and iodine number, calculated for the free fatty acid equal to from 0 to 15 and preferably is a coconut oil or gidrirovannoe coconut oil. The reaction is preferably carried out in a pressure vessel at full pressure equal to from 1 to 10 bar, preferably 3 to 8 bar. Methyl chloride is preferably added to a mixture of bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-methylamino ether fatty acids, triglycerides of fatty acid and alcohol at a rate that eliminates the pressure increase above the specified upper limit. The reaction is preferably carried out until the reaction will not take more than 80%, preferably more than 85% of bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-methylamino ether fatty acids. A suitable duration of the reaction is in the range from 2 to 8 hours depending on the temperature and pressure in the reaction.

In the second stage of unreacted methyl chloride is recovered from the reaction mixture obtained in stage a) by distillation of the mixture of methyl chloride and alcohol, the condensation of the alcohol from the mixture of methyl chloride and alcohol, which Argonauts, and returning the condensed alcohol in the reaction mixture with obtaining alcohol content in the reaction mixture equal to from 3 to 12 wt.%. Examples

Active composition softener tissue was obtained from coconut oil, 2-propanol and bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-dimethylammonium chloride ester of tall oil fatty acids having iodine number equal to 20, calculated for the free fatty acid with respect to the number of moles of fragments of fatty acids to the number of moles of amine fragments equal 1,89, and containing 0,044 mmol/g bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-methylamino of fatty acid ester, 0,041 mmol/g bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)-mediamonitoring fatty acid ester and 0,111 mmol/g fatty acids, by mixing powdered Quaternary ammonium salt with a solvent in amounts shown in table 1, and melt mixtures.

The storage stability was determined for the active compositions, fabric softener, which were stored for 5 days at 100°C in sealed glass vials.

The melt viscosity was measured at 90°C by using a StressTech rheometer, manufactured by the firm REOLOGICA® instruments, using parallel plates of 50 mm, the distance between LastName, equal to 1 mm, and the shear rates of 1, 10 and 100 s-1.

4. Active composition of fabric softener according to any one of claims 1 to 2, in which the triglyceride fatty acid is coconut oil or gidrirovannoe coconut oil.

c) isolation of unreacted methyl chloride from the mixture obtained in stage b)by distillation of the mixture of methyl chloride and the alcohol, the condensation of the alcohol from the above-mentioned mixture of methyl chloride and alcohol and returning the condensed alcohol to the specified reaction mixture with providing alcohol content equal to from 3 to 12 wt.%.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to active fabric softener compositions. Described is an active fabric softener composition which contains a) not less than 50 wt % bis-(2-hydroxypropyl)-dimethylammonium methylsulphate ester of a fatty acid, having molar ratio of fatty acid moieties to amine moieties ranging from 1.5 to 1.99, average chain length of fatty acid moieties ranging from 16 to 18 carbon atoms, and iodine number of fatty acid moieties calculated for a free fatty acid ranging from 0.5 to 50, and b) 0.5-5 wt % fatty acid. Also described is a method of producing the fabric softener composition.

EFFECT: good softening capacity, good stability when stored in an aqueous dispersion, the softener composition can be used and processed in a liquid state without adding a flammable solvent.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water-soluble hydroxyethyl cellulose and derivatives thereof. Hydroxyethyl cellulose and derivatives thereof are characterised by ratio of unsubstituted trimers less than approximately 0.21, hydroxyethyl molar substitution between approximately 0.7 and 1.3 and water-solubility of over 90%. Hydroxyethyl cellulose is obtained using a suspension method. Cellulose, water and alkali are mixed and react in an organic solvent. Molar ratio of water to anhydroglucose in the prepared alkaline cellulose mixture lies between approximately 5 and 35, and molar ratio of alkali to anhydroglucose is greater than approximately 1.6. Ethylene oxide is added. A sufficient amount of acid is continuously added so as to reduce the molar ratio of alkali to anyhydroglucose to at least approximately 0.4 and preferably higher than approximately 0.04 while simultaneously reacting ethylene oxide with alkaline cellulose. If needed, at least one deriving agent is added to obtain modified hydroxyethyl cellulose. A viscosity lowering agent is then added. This water-soluble hydroxyethyl cellulose and its derivatives are used in compositions for personal care agents, compositions for household care agents, pharmaceutical compositions, building compositions, emulsion polymerisation compositions, compositions of working fluids for oil fields, compositions of working fluids for civil engineering, compositions for coating paper, compositions for making paper, compositions for applying architectural coatings, compositions for applying industrial coatings, compositions for printing ink, adhesive compositions and compositions for processing and extracting minerals.
