Method of treatment of calves with simuliidotoxicosis

FIELD: veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method of treatment of calves with Simuliidotoxicosis is that 40% solution of urotropine is administered intravenously to calves at a dose of 1.5 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight.

EFFECT: improvement of efficiency of the method.

The invention relates to the field of veterinary medicine, in particular to methods for treating cattle, patient simuliidologists.

Sialidosis - toksikoallergicheskie disease of many species of animals, including cattle, resulting from getting into their bodies of toxins secreted by the lice saliva during krovososki. Saliva has a strong hemolytic activity and anticoagulant activity. It contains the enzyme apyrase (Cupp M.S. et fl., 1995). The venom in the saliva of simuliid neutralized by alkaline with ammonia and does not lose toxic properties when heated to 100°C for 2 hours. The disease first manifests itself by the presence of multiple dot hemorrhages, and edema of the Central nervous system. During the first 6 hours the swelling reaches its maximum development. Disease in calves is characterized by an acute course and high mortality (up to 50% of cases).

There is a method of treatment of cattle infected with simuliidologists providing intravenous glucose solution with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) [Shvetsov, A.A. and other Parasitology. - M.: Agropromizdat, 1985. - s].

The known method of intravenous sodium thiosulfate 5% at a dose of 0.02 g/kg body weight on DV. [Solovets, M.V. and other sialidosis cattle // Trudy inst. VI is evskogo wet. In-TA Mn. Uraji, 1992. - T29. - S-75].

The disadvantage of using these methods is that they do not give high effect and do not prevent the development of edema of the Central nervous system.

A new method of treatment of young cattle with the use of methenamine.

Methenamine - known pharmaceutical agent that has anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.

Antitoxic properties of the drug associated with the decomposition of urotropine in an acidic environment to ammonia and formaldehyde. In addition, he works on stimulating the excretory system, increases diuresis, thereby promotes the excretion of toxic substances from the body and prevents the development of edema.

For treatment of animals, the drug was injected intravenously in the form of a 40%aqueous solution of urotropine in the dose of 1.5 ml per 10 kg of body weight. After application of the drug, improvement of the General condition of the animal occurred after 30-45 minutes, and complete recovery of all animals after 4-5 hours.

The effectiveness of the proposed method of treatment was studied on 15 bulls 8 months of age, patients simuliidologists, the first group, 5 animals of the second group was the control and treatment were not exposed.

Thus, the proposed method of patient treatment simuliidologists cattle is quite effective, and the applied drug is e exerts a negative influence on the organism of animals.

Treatment of calves suffering from simuliidologists, characterized in that the calves injected the drug in the form of a 40%aqueous solution of urotropine in the dose of 1.5 ml per 10 kg of body weight.
