Adhesive system and method of obtaining wood-based product

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves depositing an adhesive system onto one or more pieces of wood-based material and joining one or more pieces with one or more additional pieces of the material. The adhesive system contains one component which contains starch, and another component which contains one or more polymers belonging to a group comprising polyvinyl amine, copolymers poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinyl amine), poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinyl formamide), polyallyl amine, polyethylene imine, polyamido amine and polyvinyl formamide. The two components are deposited on the wood-based material as unmixed separate components. The adhesive system further contains one or more polymers containing acetoacetylated polyvinyl alcohol.

EFFECT: use of the adhesive system enables to produce such wood-based products as boards based on chips, particles or fibres or boards based on aligned long chips.

The present invention relates to an adhesive system and method of obtaining product on the basis of wood.

Introduction

Resins based on formaldehyde, such as phenol-formaldehyde resin, melamine-formaldehyde resin and urea resin, are widely used as binders in obtaining products based on wood. Examples of such products based on wood are composite products containing layers, glued together, such as plywood, laminated flooring products and products with a coating of veneer used, for example, in furniture. Additional examples of such products based on wood are composite products, such as wood boards based particles, shavings and fibers, where wood chips and/or fibers together with a binder are pressed to form a plate.

During curing resins based on formaldehyde formaldehyde may be released during the production of the product on the basis of wood, and later, during use of the product. The release of formaldehyde in the air is a major problem for many years for reasons of his health hazards.

There is increasing demand for containing no formaldehyde adhesives for wood, which give rises the Yu strength of binding and the overall quality of the final product, which makes them suitable as alternatives are known from the literature adhesives containing resins based on formaldehyde.

The resistance and the strength of binding, as a rule, are important properties that reflect the quality of products based on wood. Typically, there are specific quality parameters required for compliance with established standards for specific end-product. For example, plate-based particles must meet certain standards in terms of, for example, internal linking, swelling in thickness and water absorption, while the laminated product for flooring, as a rule, must meet certain standards in terms of, for example, delaminated and tear of the fibers.

Alternatively, the resins based on formaldehyde in the adhesive compositions for wood offers adhesives based on starch. Imam et al. "Wood Adhesive from Crosslinked Poly(vinyl)alcohol) and Partially Gelatinized Starch: Preparation and Properties", Starch/Starke 51 (1999) Nr. 6, S. 225-229, describes an adhesive composition containing starch and polyvinyl alcohol, the composition further comprises a melamine resin. U.S. patent 2051025, U.S. patent 2102937, U.S. patent 3487033, U.S. patent 3355307 describe adhesives based on starch, used for the manufacture of corrugated cardboard. Application for international patent WO 03/069061A1 describes an adhesive based on starch, used in the manufacture of the product carton.

Currently adhesives based on starch are not used in the methods of production of slabs based on the particles.

There is still a need for alternative adhesive systems based on starch, suitable for products based on wood, such as laminated products or plate-based particles.

Accordingly, the present invention provides a method of obtaining a product based on wood, and it provides the adhesive system.

Invention

The present invention relates to a method of obtaining product on the basis of wood comprising applying an adhesive system onto one or more pieces of material based on wood and connection of one or more pieces with one or more further pieces of a material, preferably a material based on wood, adhesive system contains one component containing starch, and another component containing one or more polymers (P)containing an amine group or an amide group, these two components are applied to the material based on wood as separate components. These two components it is convenient to use after a certain period of time one after another. Alternatively, the two components are conveniently nanos is to be simultaneously on the material based on wood.

The term "adhesive system" here refers to the combination of components that functions and is intended for use as an adhesive when combined.

The term "adhesive" here also includes the term "binder".

By the term "amide group" included here is formamidine group.

As materials based on wood it comprises, in addition to solid wood, wood materials, such as materials based on fibers, shavings and particles. The surface, which must be connected, can consist of one or different types of material based on wood.

Material based on wood may refer to any type and form of material based on wood, such as shavings, fibers, sheets, layers, veneer, pieces and the like.

The present invention also relates to an adhesive system containing one component containing starch, and another component containing one or more polymers (P)containing an amine group or an amide group, these two components are present as a pure individual components.

The present invention also relates to the use of the adhesive system in accordance with the present invention for producing the product based on wood.

In addition, the present invention relates to a CR is the product based on wood, containing pieces of material based on wood, United with an adhesive containing starch and one or more polymers (P)containing an amine group or an amide group.

The component containing the starch, may contain a solution or dispersion of starch or contain starch as a solid material. Component containing one or more polymers (P)may contain a solution or dispersion or contain the polymer (P) as a solid material. Preferably, one or more polymers (P) are contained in the solution or dispersion.

Components of the adhesive system is preferably applied to the material based on wood after a certain period of time one after another, as the first component damage and applied as a second component, which is applied to the material based on wood.

In one embodiment, the first component damage, if it is in solution or dispersion is dried after application before you apply the second component.

In one of the embodiments it is convenient to first component adhesive system applied to the material based on wood, contained starch, and convenient to the second applied component contains one or more polymers (P). Examples of suitable starches are natural starches and modified starches obtained, for example, potatoes, corn, wheat, rice, peas and the like, such as acetylated degraded starch, Rahman, modified alkyl-succinic acid, oxidized starch, hydroxypropyltrimonium starch, cationic starch, amylopectin starch, acetylated starch with a high amylose content, starch from tapioca, natural potato starch, natural corn starch, natural wheat starch, natural rice starch and natural pea starch.

One or more polymers (P) properly contain Monomeric units containing amine or amide group. Accordingly, from about 5 to about 100% of the Monomeric units of one or more polymers (P) containing amine or amide group, preferably from about 25 to about 100%, more preferably from about 50 to about 100%, even more preferably from about 90 to about 100%. Most preferably, all of the Monomeric units of one or more polymers (P) containing amine or amide group.

One or more polymers (P) properly contain a primary amine group or an amide group. One or more polymers (P) preferably include one or more connections from polyvinylene, copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine), poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide), allylamine, polyethylenimine, polyamidoamine and polyvinylformamide. More FAV is preferably one or more polymers (P) include one or more connections from polyvinylidine and copolymer of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine). Most preferably the polymer (P) is polyvinyliden.

In one embodiment, the implementation of one or more polymers (P) properly belong to the group of vinyl polymers. In this case, one or more polymers (P) preferably include one or more connections from polyvinylene, copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine, poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide), allylamine and polyvinylformamide. More preferably, one or more vinyl polymers (P) containing a primary amine group. Most preferably, the vinyl polymer (P) is polyvinyliden.

In one embodiment, the implementation of one or more polymers (P) properly contain a primary amine group or an amide side groups. One or more polymers (P) preferably include one or more connections from polyvinylene, copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine), poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide), allylamine, polyethylenimine and polyvinylformamide. Most preferably, the polymer (P) is polyvinyliden or polyethylenimine.

Polyvinyliden usually obtained by hydrolysis polyvinylformamide to a certain extent. Under the "polyvinylene" here refers to polyvinylene,where the molar ratio of amine groups to formamidine groups is from 5:95 to 100:0. If the molar ratio of amine groups to formamidine groups is less than 5:95, the polymer is defined as polyvinylformamide. The molar ratio of amine groups to formamidine groups polyvinylene is preferably from about 10:90 to about 100:0, more preferably from about 50:50 to about 100:0, most preferably from about 80:20 to about 100:0.

The copolymer poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine) are usually obtained by copolymerization of vinyl acetate and vinylformamide with subsequent hydrolysis, which gives a copolymer having vinyl alcohol units and vinylamine. The copolymer may also contain the remaining formamide group, and the remaining acetate groups. The molar ratio of amine groups to formamide groups in the copolymer poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine) is from 5:95 to 100:0. If the numerical ratio of amine groups to formamidine groups is less than 5:95, the polymer is defined as a copolymer of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide). Convenient to the molar ratio of hydroxyl groups to acetate groups in the copolymer poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine) or a copolymer of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamide) ranged from about 25:75 to 100:0, preferably from about 75:25 to 100:0. Convenient to the molar ratio of amine and formamidine GRU is para to the hydroxyl and acetate groups in the copolymer poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide) or a copolymer of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide) was from about 3:97 to about 100:0, preferably from about 10:90 to about 100:0, most preferably from about 25:75 to about 100:0.

Convenient to have one or more polymers (P) had a weighted average molecular weight of from about 1000 to about 1,000,000 g/mol, preferably about 10,000 to about 800000 g/mol, more preferably from about 20000 to about up to 600,000 g/mol, most preferably about from about 50000 to 500000 g/mol.

The adhesive system may also be combined with additional composition, it is convenient that it was the composition of the adhesive-based dispersion of a polymer or copolymer of one or more Ethylenediamine monomers. Examples of appropriate polymers or copolymers of one or more Ethylenediamine monomers are homopolymers vinyl esters such as polyvinyl acetate, copolymers of vinyl esters, such as the copolymer of the ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), or copolymers of vinyl acetate with acrylic monomers such as methyl methacrylate or butyl acrylate, strollerderby rubber (SBR) and polyacrylates. In this case, convenient to a number of adhesive based on starch ranged from about 10 to about 99 wt.%, preferably from about 25 to about 85 wt.%, most preferably from about 50 to about 75 wt.%, with respect to wet componentheading system as a whole.

The adhesive system may also be combined with an agent for cross-linking shortly before use. Suitable agents for the cross-linkage are such that interact with amino and/or hydroxyl groups. Examples of agents for cross-linking are: isocyanates, monomers or polymers containing adipic acid, melamine-formaldehyde resin, urea resin, melamine salt, aldehydes such as glutaraldehyde, glyoxal, and polymeric aldehydes, such as dialdehyde starches, and complexing agents, such as salts of zirconium. They can be added to any of the two components of the adhesive system. If it is used, it is convenient to number the agent for cross-linking component adhesive system amounted to about 30 wt.% or from about 0.1 to about 30 wt.%.

Convenient to the adhesive system further contain one or more polymers (P1)containing acetoacetate. Convenient to the content of acetoacetate in one or more polymers (P) was about 0.05 to about 15 mol.%, preferably from about 1 to about 10 mol.%. One or more polymers (P1) preferably include acetoacetotoluidide polyvinyl alcohol (AAPVA).

Convenient to have one or several who are polymers (P1) had a weighted average molecular weight of from about 1000 to about 5000000 g/mol, preferably from about 10000 to about 2000000 g/mol.

One or more components of the adhesive system, starch-containing polymer (P) and the polymer (P1), respectively, can optionally contain additives, such as agents for adjusting the viscosity, and fillers such as kaolin, wheat flour, soya flour, flour from the husks of walnuts or other known, that they are suitable for use in the preparation of adhesives for wood.

Component adhesive system containing one or more polymers (P) or (P1)may also contain inorganic or organic salts. Part of one or more polymers (P) may be charged ion, preferably charged cation. The amount of negative counterions of the salts in the component that contains one or more polymers (P)can hold from 0 to about 30 wt.% or from about 0.1 to about 20 wt.%, or about 0.5 to about 10 wt.%.

In one embodiment, the method first applied component contains starch, the second applied component contains a solution or dispersion of one or more polymers (P) and the third dealt component contains a solution or dispersion of one or more polymers (P1). It is convenient to first damage of the component represented a solid material starch.

The temperature of pressing depends on what kind of product based on wood is supposed to produce, but it is convenient that it was about 50 to about 250°C, preferably from about 100 to about 225°C, most preferably from about 150 to about 200°C.

The pressing time and temperature of the pressing linked so that a lower temperature pressing, as a rule, require longer periods of time pressing. Product based on wood, which should be made, also determines the appropriate temperature pressing and periods of time of pressing. Convenient to the pressing time was, at least about 10 seconds, it is also convenient that it was about 10 seconds to about 60 minutes, preferably at least about 30 seconds, also preferably from about 30 seconds to about 30 minutes, most preferably at least about 1 minute, also preferably from about 1 to about 15 minutes.

The present invention also relates to the product based on what avecina, which can be obtained by using a method of obtaining a product based on wood.

Convenient to the product based on wood according to the present invention represented laminated or veneered material, such as laminated flooring, veneered flooring, veneered material for furniture, plywood, wall panel, roof panel, laminated beam or composite product, such as a plate-based particles, plate-based fibers, plate-based chip or plate of oriented long shavings. Preferably it is a plywood, veneered furniture, veneered flooring, laminate flooring or plate-based particles.

In one embodiment, the implementation of the product based on wood according to the present invention contains one or more layers that are connected by one or more adhesive relations containing starch and one or more polymers (P)containing an amine group or an amide group.

In one embodiment, the implementation of the product based on wood according to the present invention contains a composite product containing shavings on the basis of wood bonded together with an adhesive containing starch and one or more polymers (P)containing an amine is a new group or amide group. Convenient to the composite product contains from about 70 to about 98 wt.%, preferably from about 80 to about 90 wt.%, material based on wood, from about 2 to about 25 wt.%, preferably from about 5 to about 15 wt.%, starch, and from about 0.5 to about 10 wt.%, preferably from about 2 to about 6 wt.% one or more polymers (P), the amount calculated as the dry weight of the composite product.

Composite product preferably is a plate-based chips, particles or fibers or plate on the basis of oriented long shavings.

The present invention is illustrated hereinafter by using the following non-limiting examples. Share and interest related to the mass fractions, respectively, to the mass percent unless approved otherwise.

Examples

Example 1

Plate-based particles produced by mixing 864 g of wood chips with a moisture content of 2 wt.%, with 205 g 11 wt.% solution polyethylenimine (Polyimin® SK, from BASF), followed by mixing 85,3 g corn starch (C*Gum NC 03432 from Cerestar, the moisture content 10%). Mix with chips pressed into a slab with a thickness of 16 mm, the Pressing is carried out at 189°C for three minutes. The sequence of pressure is a 160 kg/cm2within 30 seconds, 0 kg/cm 2for 2.5 min and a pressure in the last 30 seconds.

Tensile strength (internal bond, IB) is measured by means of gluing pieces of 5×5 cm on two of the metal block, and then their separation. Swelling in thickness (TSW) and water absorption (ABS) is also measured. Swelling in thickness is measured by determining the degree of swelling after a piece of 5×5 cm is dipped in water (20°C, 24 hours). The water absorption is measured by determining the increase in weight after immersion of a piece of 5×5 cm in water (20°C, 24 hours).

The value of IB is equal to 190 kPa, TSW 35% and ABS (24 hour) is 136%.

Example 2

Plate-based particles produced in smaller scale by mixing of 50.7 g of wood chips, respectively, having a moisture content of 2 wt.%, with 10.9 g of an aqueous solution of about 4 wt.% (11 wt.%, including salt) polyvinylene (Lupamin® 9095 from BASF), followed by mixing 5 g and 10 g of corn starch (C*Gum NC 03432 from Cerestar, the moisture content 10%). Mix with chips pressed into the form of plates with a thickness of 10 mm, the Pressing is carried out at 9 kg/cm2at 180-185°C for 5 minutes. The strength of internal communication (IB) measured by gluing pieces of 5×5 cm on two of the metal block, and then their separation.

Two reference plates are made in a similar way, but instead of using a solution polyvinylene is and add to 10.9 g of water.

6. The method according to claim 5, where the mass ratio of starch to one or more polymers (P) is from about 2:1 to about 20:1.

7. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, comprising mixing wood chips with an adhesive system and the connection of the chips.

8. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, where the product based on wood is a plate on the basis of Struga is, particles or fibers or plate on the basis of oriented long shavings.

9. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, comprising applying an adhesive system onto a material similar to the sheet, and connect it with other material similar to the sheet.

10. The method according to claim 7, where the mass ratio of one or more polymers (P) to the chips is from about 1:100 to about 1:10.

11. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, where one or more polymers (P) belong to the group of polyvinylene, copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine), poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide), allylamine, polyethylenimine and polyvinylformamide.

12. The method according to claim 1, where the adhesive system further comprises one or more polymers (P1)containing acetoacetotoluidide polyvinyl alcohol.

13. Product based on wood, obtained by the method according to any one of claims 1 to 12.

14. The adhesive system containing one component containing starch, and another component containing one or more polymers (P)belonging to the group of polyvinylene, copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylamine), poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinylformamide), allylamine, polyethylenimine, polyamidoamine and polyvinylformamide, where two components are present as a pure individual components.

SUBSTANCE: composition contains one or more urethane prepolymers, having isocyanate residues, one or more compounds which catalyse the reaction of isocyanate residues with water or a compound which contains active hydrogen and one or more alpha-hydrocarbyl silane compounds. SUBSTANCE: method of gluing involves processing the surfaces to be glued, applying the glue, pressing the components together and solidification of the glue. The glued surfaces are processed through external heating of the glued components until formation of a 0.5-2.0 mm deep coked layer. The glue joint works at temperature conditions at which material of one or both of the components undergoes thermal decomposition.

EFFECT: method improves adhesion characteristics of gluing carbon fibre reinforced plastic, as well as other composites with heat-resistant filler, increases reliability of operation, particularly glued heat shielding of sockets and reduces their weight.

The method of gluing different types of vulcanised rubber to each other involves application of polychloroprene rubber based glue onto vulcanised rubber surfaces to be glued and then bringing the surfaces into contact. The base of the polychloroprene glue used is nairit NT or nairit DP combined with butyl phenolformaldehyde resin in 88NT or 88SA adhesive. Before application onto the surface, the adhesive is mixed with a trichloroethylphosphate or trichloropropylphosphate modifier in amount of 0.05-2.0 pts. wt per 100 pts. wt of the adhesive, and after application, the adhesive film is dried at room temperature for 1-2 minutes and the surfaces to be glued are brought into contact under a load for 24 hours.

SUBSTANCE: composition contains carrier starch and secondary starch. The carrier starch contains (in terms of dry mass), less than 50% pre- gelatinised starch and has higher sensitivity to alkali than the secondary starch. The secondary starch is selected from a group comprising maize starch, potato starch, wheat starch and a mixture of two or more of the said types of starch. The carrier starch is selected from a group comprising wheat starch, potato starch, cassava starch, barley starch and a mixture of two or more of the said types of starch. The composition contains (in terms of dry mass) 0.5-60% carrier starch, 40-99.5% secondary starch and 1-8% alkali. The composition also contains (in terms of dry mass) 0.1-3.5% boron compound. An adhesive is obtained by adding the composition to water and stirring while adding a sufficient amount of alkali. The adhesive is used to make corrugated cardboard and multilayer materials. The advantage of the adhesive composition lies in that it can be easily prepared with low expenses on time and equipment.
