Disclosure of inventions

The implementation of the invention

Below is a detailed description of the options for implementing the present invention with reference to the drawings. As shown in figure 1, the EPG system includes a server 20 dispatching, the EPG server 10, the EPG server 11, the EPG server 12, the EPG server 13, the broadband access server 30, the server 31 of broadband access, the set-top box 1 and box 2. Below is described the method of controlling the EPG system.

Step 503: the Server DNS1 dispatch sends the set-top box 3 notification of dispatch, which includes: information indicating that the set-top box 3 must log on to the EPG server 15, whose IP address is 218.246.3.11.

In yet another implementation of the present invention, a method for managing EPG system, comprising the following steps:

Step 602: the Server DNS4 dispatch receives a request dispatch from the set-top box 4; servers DNS4 dispatching, receiving the scheduling request, resolves the domain name www.EPG.com.cn gets an IP address 218.246.3.12 EPG server 16 determines the EPG server 16 for the set-top box 4.

Step 603: the Server DNS4 dispatch sends the set-top box 4 notification of dispatch, which includes: information indicating that the set-top box 4 must log on to the EPG server 16, whose IP address is 218.246.3.12.

Step 604: the set-top box 4 initializes a request for connection to the EPG server 16; receiving a request for connection from AB the subscriber STB 4, The EPG server 16 performs the authentication of the user and, if authentication is denied, prevents the entrance set-top box 4 in the system, and ends the processing flow. In the shown embodiment, the authentication succeeds, and installed an interactive relationship between EPG server 16 and the user set-top box 4.

The present invention provides a technical solution which places the EPG servers in a distributed way, groups EPG servers, group number which is set in accordance with characteristics of the user-defined attributes, and sets the policy of the dispatch, which is then stored on the server dispatch. Therefore, the flow between the user terminal and EPG servers bypasses citywide network bandwidth which is less involved.

With boundary nodes of the network that serve as a bypass for the downward flow of the EPG system, the service is free from narrow bandwidth, and the number of users able to use the service, can therefore continuously expanded.

Above, the embodiments do not limit the claimed scope of protection of the present invention. Any modification, equivalent substitution and improvement within the idea and principle of the present invention are within the field of action of the present invention.

1.
