SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the method of production of the pigment for manufacture of the cardboard and paper and may be used in pulp and paper industry at production of the filled paper, the coated paper and the cardboard. Calcium carbonate is treated with aluminum sulfate in the aqueous medium. The treatment is conducted at aluminum sulfate consumption of 25-105 % to the mass of absolutely dry calcium carbonate at the temperature of 80-85°С during 90-180 minutes with production of the suspension containing 25-35 % dry substances in it. The suspension may be additionally dried and to produce the powder. The technical result of the invention is improvement of the pigment quality and expansion of the field of its application.

The invention relates to the production of pigments, as well as to the technology of making paper with filler, coated paper and cardboard.

At the present time in the manufacture of paper and paperboard much attention is paid to the development of pigments to improve the optical and mechanical characteristics of the paper filler and coating on the coated paper and cardboard. Developed technology that provides the ability to centrally receive pigments in powder form with their subsequent use in various industries.

A method of processing calcium carbonate sodium hexametaphosphate and phosphoric acid. The purpose of this method is to obtain calcium carbonate, resistant to acidic environment (US, No. 5043017 And NCL 106-464, publ. 08.1991).

The closest analogue of the proposed method to obtain white pigment is a method of obtaining stable in the acidic environment of the composition of calcium carbonate and aluminium salts (US No. 5599388, N. CL 106-464, 162-181 .2, 162-181 .3, M CL 09 With 1/02, publ. 04.02.1997). This method consists in preparing a mixture of calcium carbonate salt of aluminum in an aqueous medium in the past number of from 0.5 to 10% by weight of dry calcium carbonate. As salt can be used aluminum sulfate, and calcium carbonate is used in the form of a dispersion, and the aluminum sulfate is con - in aqueous solution.

However, the products obtained by these methods are intended only for use as a filler in the production of neutral or weakly acidic papers. As a component of coating compositions offer the products can not be used.

A positive result from the use of the present invention to provide stable in acidic environments pigment with high brightness and is suitable for use in the production of different types of paper and cardboard as a filler and as a component in coating compositions.

In addition, this pigment can be obtained in the form of fine powder, suitable for redispersion without loss of properties of pigment.

Set a positive effect is achieved by the fact that in the proposed method of obtaining a pigment for making paper and paperboard, including processing of calcium carbonate aluminium sulphate in the aquatic environment, according to the invention the treatment is carried out at a flow rate of aluminum sulfate 25-105% by weight of absolutely dry calcium carbonate at a temperature of 80-85°for 90-180 min to obtain a suspension with a solids content in her 25-35%.

Obtained suspension can optionally be dried to obtain a powder.

The method is as follows. In the reactor, see the Khabibullina, equipped with high-speed stirrer and steam jacket, serves a specified amount of water, which under vigorous stirring in a predetermined amount is gradually fed powder of calcium carbonate, after the filing of the dispersion is stirred for 5-10 min and then to the resulting dispersion under stirring and slowly add a solution of aluminum sulfate containing a given quantity of aluminum sulfate in the form of Al2(SO4)3·N2O. After the filing of a solution of aluminum sulfate, the temperature of the mixture in the reactor was raised to 80-85°and the mixture at this temperature and under vigorous stirring withstand 90-180 minutes the result is a pigment dispersion with a solids content of 25-35%. This dispersion can be used directly, for example, in the manufacture of paper filled with or in obtaining coating compositions. In other cases, the dispersion is subjected to drying the layer at a temperature of 75-85°and then crushed into a fine powder or spray drying.

In the reaction of aluminum sulfate with calcium carbonate with an excess of the latter in the reaction mixture of aluminum sulfate ultimately consumed completely. As a result of this reaction is a white pigment with high brightness, high stability in systems with sour meant the s pH having a particle size in the dispersion is not larger than the particles in the original calcium carbonate. For example, when using precipitated calcium carbonate particle size of the pigment is less than 2 μm with a primary size of less than 1 micron.

In addition, the pigment is dried, for example, in the layer very easily crushed into a powder with particle sizes less than 1 micron and again redispersible in water without losing its properties with obtaining low viscosity dispersions of pigment concentration to 45%.

These characteristics improve with increasing degree of conversion of calcium carbonate in the reaction with aluminum sulfate, that is, with increasing consumption of aluminum sulfate per unit mass of calcium carbonate up to their stoichiometric ratio (1,112 weight. ch. of aluminum sulfate at 1 o'clock calcium carbonate).

Conditions of carrying out the method according to the examples shown in table 1, characteristics of products are shown in table 2.

Product used in the manufacture of paper and cardboard can be "primary" dispersion that is obtained in the reaction of calcium carbonate with aluminium sulphate, dry pigment powder obtained from this dispersion, as well as "secondary" dispersion obtained by redispersion powder pigment. The product is diluted, for example, with the introduction of pigment into pulp as a filler or mesiwala with other components (agents, dispersing agents, pigments, binders, latexes and the like) during the formation of coating compositions with different compositions and total concentrations of dry matter and accordingly with different physical parameters (e.g., viscous properties). Therefore, the quality characteristics of the products we have chosen the stability of the dispersions without additives stabilizers (in fact they yield, for example, within 24 h, expressed in % by weight dispersion), ease of grinding pigment, dried layer at 75°With, the presence or absence of agglomerates in the crushed powder, the particle size of the powder, the possibility of redispersible powder without loss of properties of the pigment, optical white powder (White source of calcium carbonate 84,5%).

As can be seen from the tables, the proposed method allows to obtain calcium carbonate is a white pigment with high quality optical white, the ability to grinding the dried material, the pigment particle size, the possibility of redispersible powder while maintaining the properties of the pigment. These properties provide an opportunity to expand the scope of the pigment.
