The invention relates to a device for processing sheet material, especially banknotes, as well as to the appropriate method of handling sheet material, especially banknotes, in the exercise of which individual sheets of sheet material is processed in a processing device, while gathering information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material and store it in the memory of the control device.

The devices and methods specified in the beginning of the description of the type used primarily for testing, sorting and, if necessary, destruction of banknotes. While banknotes individually separated from the stack, on the basis of different criteria to check their authenticity and/or the state, depending on the results of this test relate to certain classes of sort and finally using the transport system serves to corresponding receiving devices. In the publication EP 0453930 B1 (the closest analogue of the invention) described a device for processing sheet material, especially banknotes, having a processing device, which includes at least one tool for gathering information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material and having at least one control device, which includes at least one storage device for storing information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material. In the known device the processing device has at least one means for recording data identifying individual sheets of sheet material, and a storage device included in the control device allows you to save the information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material together with data identifying individual sheets of sheet material. In this publication also described an appropriate method for processing sheet material, especially banknotes, in the exercise of which individual sheets of sheet material is processed in a processing device. According to the method used to collect information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material and store it in the memory of the control device is, and record data that identifies individual sheets of sheet material, and together with information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material remain in the memory of the control device. According to this method, along with the date, time, machine and user are logged and printed data with amounts sorted by different categories or destroyed (shredded) banknotes. The present invention was based on the task of further improvements in such devices and method that improves the reliability of the process control processing sheet material.

In the proposed device, this problem is solved due to the fact that between the processing device, in which information is gathered about the process of processing individual p is x sheets and data identifying each of them, and a control device, the information processing sheet material is stored together with data identifying individual sheets, provides a galvanically isolated connection lines or data lines. In this case, the transfer of data between the processing device and the control device corresponding connecting line is provided by equipping the appropriate transmitters and receivers. Due to the galvanic isolation of the control device from the processing device eliminates the transfer of possible electrical interference from the processing device in the control device, and, under certain conditions, and in the opposite direction the attachment.

Accordingly, in the proposed method, the above problem is solved due to the fact that the data that identifies individual sheets of sheet material, as well as information about the processing of individual sheets of sheet material is passed from the processing device in the control device for electrically isolated connection line connecting between the processing device and the control device.

Data that identifies individual sheets, is preferably present in the form of image data of each of the sheets. This involves, for example, filmed with the camera on charge-coupled devices (CCD) image sealed sheet, i.e. the sheet that has the imprint. Additionally or alternatively to this, a separate sheet can be identified by its serial number, which refers primarily to the notes. Gathering information about a sealed sheet, respectively, about the bill in the form of graphical data and/or in the form of it, according to its serial number to uniquely identify this sealed sheet, respectively, of this bill. In principle, however, the sheets can be identified and based on other properties and characteristics of, for example, on the basis of their magnetic characteristics or acoustic properties.
