Preparation for treating feline hemobartonellosis and method for its application

SUBSTANCE: as an etiotropic substance the suggested preparation contains veribene to be injected intramuscularly once at the dosage of 4.8-5.2 mg/kg body weight. Both preparation and method of its application provide decreased multiplicity of injection.

EFFECT: shortened terms of therapy.

The invention relates to veterinary medicine, namely to the drug, affecting organisms species hemobartonella, and treatment of hemobartonella cats using the drug.

It is known that for the treatment of hemobartonella cats use antibiotics - tetracycline at a dose of 10-20 mg/kg three times a day or doxycycpine from 5 to 10 mg/kg twice a day (I.E. Foley et al, 1998; F. Duba, 1999; Apparatchik, Avidin, 2000). Tetracycline is bacteriostatic drugs. The disadvantage of these tools is long lasting up to 2-3 weeks time and that they do not cause the complete elimination of the pathogen from the body, as well as with long-term use have hepatotoxic effects and have the ability to form a dysbacteriosis of the intestine.

Known group of drugs based on diminazine of acuurate: Aiden, berenil, verian and how they can be applied when blood parasite diseases of animals (Timofeev B.A., Karpenko I.G. Chemotherapy of protozoal diseases of farm animals // M: Rosselchozizdat. - 1977. - P.37, 42, 44, 47, 80). Drugs active against prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms, including Babesia, Trypanosoma, Teleri, eperythrozoon. The drugs are based on the inhibition of aerobic glycolysis and DNA synthesis in pathogenic protozoa. Drugs used to treat large what about the cattle, sheep, horses, and dogs with protozoal diseases (trypanosomiasis, piroplasmosis, babesiosis). How to use: the dose of 3.5 mg/kg in aqueous solution and parenteral (Veterinary drugs in Russia: a Handbook / Irakleiou, Nuarimol. - M.: Selhozizdat, 2000. - S-250. Veterinary legislation, volume 3, - s). The disadvantage of the described tools is the lack of data on its use in hemobartonella cats and tested dosages.

The closest solution adopted for the prototype, is the use of verbena for the treatment of eperythrozoonosis animal diseases caused by the pathogen, located in the same taxonomic family with pathogen hemobartonella cats. In one gram of verbena contains 445 mg diazoamino-dibenzylidene of deaurata and auxiliary componenti. The drug is a fine-grain powder yellow, use a freshly prepared aqueous solutions of 7% concentration. To prepare the solution to a 2.36 g of granulated berenil add 12.5 ml of water and injected into the deep layer of muscles of the animal at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg (deacons, L.P. The disadvantage is the lack of data on use of medication for the treatment of hemobartonella cats.

The technical problem solved by this invention is to expand the range of tools and methods for the treatment of hemobartonella cats.

The goal of the project is achieved in that in a well-known medication for the treatment of hemobartonella cats, including causal substance, according to the invention as a causal means use verian.

The goal of the project is achieved by the fact that in the known method of treatment of hemobartonella cats, including intramuscular medications sick animals, according to the invention the animals injected verian once, at a dose of 4.8-5.2 mg per 1 kg of weight.

The technical result of the present invention is to reduce the multiplicity of the introduction of drugs and the reduction of treatment time of hemobartonella cats.

With its high efficiency, this product has several disadvantages. The introduction of verbena weakened and malnourished animals can cause intoxication, manifested in strong anxiety, diarrhea,followed by depression.

Example 1. For the treatment used a 7% solution of verbena. Preparation of the solution was carried out immediately prior to use.

The study was conducted on 19 kittens 1.5 to 2.5 months of age, weighing 700-800 g, distributed in 2 experimental and control groups. After 15-20 days of quarantine kittens was intramuscularly injected with heparinised blood from spontaneously infected N. felis cats with acute flow hemobartonella and parasitemia 80%.

Verian was injected intramuscularly 4,8-5,2 mg/kg (once) in the form of a 7% solution of 7-12 day after infection with parasites of 15-20%.

100% kittens, which verian was administered at a dose of 4.8-5.2 mg/kg in 24 hours and in subsequent studies of blood parasites were not found. Improving the General condition of the kittens came in two days later. Held on the 30th day splenectomy did not lead to the emergence of hemobartonella in the blood and relapse within 30 days of the observation.

Kittens control group parasitemia was kept at the level of 3-50%. Two kittens were killed on 5-th and 11-th day from the moment of their infection. Three surviving kittens were severely depleted and significantly lagged in growth and development.

Example 2. When using verbena at a dose of 5 mg per 1 kg of weight, the cats of different ages (from 1 year to 10 years), diagnosed with hemobartonella the ez (n=46).

After the introduction watched the General condition of the animals. In the three cases noted signs of isidingo psychosis. The release of the body from pathogens and improvement occurred on 2-3rd day after application of verbena. 15 days after treatment, the animals of the pathogen was not identified.

Thus, aqueous injection solutions of verbena at a dose of 4.8-5.2 mg/kg are 100% effective against N. felis and can be used in practicing veterinary doctors for the treatment of patients with hemobartonella cats.
