The invention relates to the field of poultry, namely the selection of breeding hens.

Currently, as a criterion of selection of hens on egg productivity used indicators such as egg production, the safety of the young and adult birds, the color of egg shells, etc.

It is known that the intensity of the color of egg shells fairly stable rate, slightly changing with age and are affected by illness, medication, stress, etc. the relation between the intensity of the pigmentation of egg shells and safety of the birds - the more intense the color, the higher the safety of the birds.

The known method of selection of egg chickens to improve the safety and egg production in terms of color eggs mothers in 30 weeks of life (Shabanova S.A. assessment of the pigmentation of egg shells - new biotechnological reception of selection for increased level of realization of the genetic potential of productivity of birds//theory and practice of breeding egg and meat chickens: Sat. scient. The disadvantages of this method are:

1. It is impossible to establish, whether the high color eggs at 30 weeks of age during the entire period of use of the bird.

2. Are high performance color shell when hit PT is subjected to stressful situations.

When using this method, the pigmentation of egg shells assess on a five-point scale: 1 - white; 2 - brown, 3 - cream; 4 - light; 5 - almost white. In the breeding selection involved chickens with coloring not more than 2 points.

Industrial applicability of the method is that it can be used in poultry breeding to improve the safety and poultry egg production in an industrial environment.

An example implementation of the method.

In experiments on hens parent lines of the cross “UK Kuban-123” line MC-1 (GPPS “Laba”), selected by a known method at 30 weeks of age to determine the pigmentation of egg shells on a five-point scale: 1 - white; 2 - brown, 3 - cream; 4 - light; 5 - almost white. In the breeding selection involved chickens with coloring not more than 2 points. 2 weeks before culling selected hens subjected to stress by making changes in the basic ration indicators crude protein and calcium within 2 days (-3,0; + 9,1 +21,9; +7.9% respectively).

After 4 days for 5 days to evaluate the pigmentation of egg shells and compared with previously obtained values. The offspring of birds, has changed the color index of shell eggs under conditions of stress on the 2 points above, exclude from premenopause. The result is selected so young had the safety 96,4% compared to 95.7% in the controls (P>0,95).
