Flexible brush from a mixture of polymers

 

The invention relates to a flexible brush, consisting of a mixture of polymers, in particular to a toothbrush with a flexible neck area. The brush has a solid body consisting of a handle, one end of which is a head with bristles. The body of the brush consists of a mixture of a first polymer and a second polymer that has a lower hardness than the first polymer, the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 95:5 to about 30:70. The hardness of the second polymer is less than the first, and is on the shore from about 25 to about 85. The invention improves the ease of cleaning. 9 C.p. f-crystals, 3 ill., 1 PL.

The technical field to which the invention relates

The present invention relates to a brush having improved flexibility. More specifically, it relates to a flexible brush, consisting of a mixture of polymers, in particular to a toothbrush with a flexible neck area.

Background of the invention

Brushes that use at the present time, and, in particular toothbrushes are typically made entirely of plastic materials. Bristle brushes usually contain high-grade polyamide, processed by molding to form a thin fibers, which are then new plastic, which form the injection molding. The head body brush should have such dimensions, taking into account its natural functions attaching bristles to the latter, which can be combined into bundles, adequately firmly fixed.

The toothbrush, the head should be as flat as possible so it takes up as little space as possible in the mouth, or to use an existing space with a substantially elongated setae. The handle body brush should have a stable size and be hard. It is also desirable that the head was somewhat flexible relative to the handle to ease the pressure when brushing your teeth or, in other words, to regulate the pressure. Therefore, it is usually used the neck of reduced cross-section between the head and the handle, which gives the body brush some flexibility. In addition, previous attempts to achieve the desired flexibility of the head relative to the handle or head provided multicomponent brushes, which are inserted springs or separate sections of thermoplastic elastomer inserted into the cervical area is international publication nos WO 92/17092-3, published October 15, 1992). These brushes have limited flexibility because they can bend only in the hinge areas or in accordance with the distribution of the individual sections of the elastomer. In addition, they may require more attention to manufacturing tolerances and can be more expensive to manufacture than solid brush.

Other proposed technical solution is to get a body brush, made of elastomer mixed with foaming agent in the area of the handle and being solid in the head with a smaller cross-section (see U.S. patent No. 5815874 (Weihrauch) of 6 October 1998).

However, there remains a need for cost-effective, solid brush, which really has the ability to bend in many directions. None of the known technical solutions do not provide the advantages and benefits of the present invention.

Brief description of the invention

The present invention relates to a brush having a one-piece body consisting of a handle located at one of its ends a head with bristles, and the body of the brush comprises a mixture of a first polymer and a second polymer that has a smaller Toro about 30:70.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the invention will be understood by a person skilled in the art upon reading this description.

Detailed description of the invention

Brush corresponding to the present invention, have a one-piece body consisting of a handle which has at one of its ends a head with bristles. The housing consists of a mixture of polymers. In General, the mixture of polymers is a mixture of a first polymer with a second polymer that has a lower bending modulus, that is, which is more flexible than the first polymer. More specifically, the hardness of the second polymer is less than the hardness of the first polymer. The number t is the solution of the amount of the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 95:5 to about 30:70. It seems that this depends on the hardness of the second polymer material. For example, for the following number ranges shore hardness of the second polymer is preferred here, the corresponding ratio of the first polymer and the second polymer.

For a number of shore hardness from about 25 to about 45 preferred ratio of the number of the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 90:10 to 60:35, and more preferred is a ratio from about 85:15 to about 65:35.

For a number of shore hardness from about 45 to about 65 preferred ratio of the number of the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 80:20 to about 50:50, and more preferred is a ratio from about 75:25 to about 55:45.

For a number of shore hardness from about 65 to about 85 preferred ratio of the number of the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 70:30 to about 40:60, and more preferred is a ratio from about 65:35 to about 45:55.

In the following description of preferred polymeric materials for use according to the present invention contains abbreviations that are usually applied by experts in the field of machinery for the ditch.

The first polymer preferably is polypropylene ("PP") or it can be selected from the group consisting of other conventional materials used for the manufacture of toothbrush handle, such as polystyrene (PS), polyethylene ("PE"), a copolymer of Acrylonitrile and styrene ("SAN") and acetotrophic cellulose ("CAP").

The second polymer is preferably a thermoplastic elastomer ("TPE"), thermoplastic olefin ("TPO"), soft thermoplastic polyolefin (for example, polybutylene), or he may be elected from other elastomeric materials, such as a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate ("EVA") and ethylene-propylene rubber ("EPR").

Examples of suitable thermoplastic elastomers used according to the present invention, include stimulationladette ("SEBS"), strabomantidae ("SBS") and sterilizability ("SIS").

Examples of suitable thermoplastic olefins used in accordance with the present invention include polybutylene ("PB") and polyethylene ("PE").

In addition to this can be applied dye to give the brush an aesthetically attractive appearance.

For the manufacture of brushes corresponding to the present invention can be used known in the art techniques, such as injection molding. According to the present invention any suitable design, shape or configuration of the handle and/or setae. In addition, it should be understood that although the brush corresponding to the present invention, particularly suitable as a toothbrush for oral hygiene, such brushes may with equal advantage be used for cosmetic purposes, for example, as a brush for the hair or for the application of cosmetics, pet care, for example, as a brush for brushing animals, as well as for use in the household, such as cleaning, etc. Thus, it should be understood that the present invention is not limited to toothbrushes.

In tooth brush handle and head are typically joined by a neck area, which, as noted above, may have a smaller cross sectional area than the handle or head. The cylinder is supplied with holes for the reception of the bristles or tufts of bristles, which are mechanically or thermally fixed in them, as is well known to specialists in this field of technology. Sohl body brush, that is, the head, neck and handle as a single element, a mixture of polymeric materials, corresponding to the present invention, provides the advantage of obtaining the actual flexibility in many directions. In other words, the head part of the brush corresponding to the present invention, can be bent in any direction relative to the toothbrush with the same ease. This is in contrast to conventional brushes, of which the crown has the ability to bend in only one direction relative to the handle.

Flexible neck can also reduce excessive force effects on teeth and gums, which can make the user.

In Fig.1-3 shows a typical preferred embodiments of the toothbrush according to the present invention. In Fig.1A, 2A and 3A illustrate the kinds behind the respective brushes; Fig.1b, 2b and 3b shows the side views of the respective brushes; and Fig.1C, 2C and 3C shows the front views of the respective brushes. In Fig.1d shows a view in direction of arrow As shown in Fig.1C.

As shown in Fig.1, the brush 10 has a one-piece body 12 consisting of a handle 14 and a head 16 which is provided with bristles 18. Between the handle 14 and head 16 is a neck 20. The handle may also nabaztag in this area, including Santoprene. As noted above, the bristles 18 may have any configuration, including configurations with three-dimensional profiles, known to specialists in this field and not contributing limitation, examples of which are shown here in the drawings, in particular Fig.1d. It should be noted that although reference numbers to Fig.2 and 3 are similar to those shown in Fig.1, they are not repeated in Fig.2 and 3.

Examples

To illustrate the advantages of the preferred embodiments of the present invention the flexibility of the toothbrush corresponding to the present invention, is compared with a number of available on the market toothbrushes (see table).

Samples of the brushes tested according to the method of testing CHN-NA-009. This method is described in detail hereinafter. The test device contains a means for testing the gap (<100 M), steel wire and holder for the toothbrush.

Test samples were prepared by labeling the two marks: (a) for toothbrushes for adults the first mark was made in 15 mm from the top of the brush head, and a second mark was made in 80 mm from the top of the brush head; (b) for children's toothbrushes first mark was made at 10 mm from the top galoa the first mark was made at 10 mm from the top of the brush head, and the second mark was made at 50 mm from the top of the brush head. The samples were prepared at a temperature of 20+5C, and this temperature was held constant for four hours before beginning the test procedure.

The test procedure described below. Bent steel wire having a diameter of about 2 mm and a length of about 250 mm, and placed it in the top clamp of the test device. Claims

1. Brush with one-piece body consisting of a handle located at one of its ends a head with bristles, characterized in that the body of the brush consists of a mixture of a first polymer and a second polymer, which has a hardness less than that of the first polymer, and is on the shore from about 25 to about 85, and the ratio of the first polymer and the second polymer is from about 95:5 to about 30:70.

FIELD: articles of domestic utility.

SUBSTANCE: tooth brush contains a handle and a head with brushing components. The handle is hollow and has an outer bushing made out of elastomer material. The bushing has the first end directed towards the said head, and the second end distanced from the said head.
