The invention relates to medicine and can be used for massage of the facial muscles in the complex treatment of neuropathies of the facial nerve. The device is made in the form of a liner made of hard plastic with vestibular and oral surfaces and the interarch space. The device is equipped with means of electrical stimulation of the facial muscles, including two electrode-cathode electrically interconnected, and one electrode is the anode and is connected to the electrodes of the device, generating a pulse signal. We first developed this device, which the patient can use himself.

The proposed device is an insert placed in the vestibule of the mouth affected side, made of hard plastic, and has the following surface: vestibular 1 (Fig.1) oral 2 (Fig. 2) and the interarch space 3 (Fig.2).

Vestibular - addressed to the mucosa of the cheeks, corresponding to the contours of the soft tissues of the vestibule of the mouth, smooth or finely bumpy, the latter contributes to the irritation of the muscles during the massage to a greater extent; the projection of the lower alveolar ridge has a groove 4 (Fig.1) for the outflow of saliva. Interarch space is on the side of the oral surface, the upper part of which shows the topography of the occlusal surfaces of the teeth of the upper jaw and the lower part follows the topography of the occlusal surfaces of the teeth of the lower jaw in Central occlusion.

Fixing the design of the stimulator at rest and during function occurs due to the tight fit of oral surfaces and interarch site to the teeth.

Individual stimulator is designed for active restoration of facial muscles through massage and electrical stimulation. Massage the patient performs hand, gently massaging in circular muscle of the mouth, cheek, cheek muscles affected side, individual stimulator serves thus as a support (base) is used for the massage. Electrical stimulation is carried out daily or every other day for 7 minutes, in the course of treatment is 10-15 procedures. To the available electrodes are suitable flexible metal wiring with an insulating sheath, connected to the device generating the output pulse signal. The pulse amplitude is adjustable from tenths volts (Umin) to 8.2 volts (Umax). Frequency (f) of the pulse signal varies in the range of 5-10 Hz. The pulse duration (t) varies from 0.5 MS (tmin) to 2 MS (tmax).

The advantage of the presented device is its compactness, low cost due to the use of domestic element base, efficient, easy to use, the possibility of using it for massage, and electrical stimulation both in stationary and in the home.

Studies have shown that massage and electrical stimulation of facial muscles using individual stimulator when the facial nerve neuropathies increases the effectiveness of the treatment. The effect is associated with a strong vasodilator, ensuring the improvement of blood flow and tissue trophism in the affected areas of the face, stimulating the normal facial nerve function to prevent further atrophy and contractures of paretic muscles, while using individual patient stimulator notes normalization of the facial features, which contributes to the improvement of his mental and emotional state.
