The invention relates to fire-retardant paints, varnishes and lacquers that are designed to protect flammable materials, and is intended for use, for example, in construction. Fire-retardant paint is an aqueous dispersion based on acrylic dispersion or a mixture of it with a Homo - or copolymer dispersion of vinyl acetate, containing the intumescent additive mixture of pentaerythritol and ammonium polyphosphate with respect to their 1:1.3 to 2.6, respectively, as well as anionic and/or neinogennye surfactant, defoamer, aterially thickener, preservative additive, titanium dioxide, talc or micro-talc may tetraborate of sodium and water in certain proportions of these components. The composition is stable during storage, the moisture-proof coating, has good decorative properties, and when exposed to fire swells to form a heat insulating and fire resistant layer on the substrate. table 1.

The main components of the intumescent fire retardant coatings are binder (polymer), intumescent additives - foaming agents (polysaccharides, polyols, nitrogen-containing compound is urea, dicyandiamide) and flame retardants, for example, phosphorus - and nitrogen-containing compounds.

From US 4879320, 1989 known composition for fire-resistant coating of various substrates, including as a binder polyvinyl acetate or acrylic resin, epoxy resin, or a combination of (1-50 wt.%), 10-40 wt.% foaming agent (tripolyphosphate, ammonium, diammonium phosphate, polemoniaceae), preobrazujushchij (coke forming) agent (dipentaerythritol or polyhydric alcohol, or chloroparaffin or a combination of them - 4-35 wt.%); gas-emitting agent (melamine coloniali - (calcium carbonate or barites - 0-40%), 10-60% solvent a (water, alcohols, hydrocarbon solvent), refractory fibers consisting of Al2O3- 40-55 wt. % and SiO2- 40-55 wt.% (with the addition of small amounts of F2O3, TiO2, K2O, Na2O and ZrO2) 3.8 l (1 Gal) liquid component take 1-80 ounces of refractory fibers.
