(57) Abstract:

The invention relates to a sealing material for threaded connections, in particular for tapered threaded connections exposed to unscrewing. The sealing material in the form of a tape made of polyethylene film with a thickness in the range of 0.02 - 0.1 mm and a tensile strength in the range of 10 to 20 MPa, has a sticky adhesive layer of a thickness of not more than half the film thickness and stickiness in the range of 30 - 300 C. In an advantageous embodiment for the application of a film of the adhesive layer is used, the composition is made by dissolving in gasoline boot synthetic rubber followed by the addition of rosin and mineral oil. The invention creates a cheap material, easy to apply on the thread in field conditions and provides reliable sealing threaded joints of pipes at high pressure drops. table 1.

Known sealing materials in the form of solidified compositions obtained by mixing an acrylic oligomer, a phenolic or epoxy resin, liquid glass and other substances, fillers and hardener (see RF patent N 2036946, CL 09 To 3/10, and.with. USSR N 1413119, CL 10 M 103/06; N 1413123 and N 1546470, CL 10 M 169/04, N 1595887, CL 10 M 165/00). They have a high cost, low adhesiveness and make it difficult for unscrewing the threaded connection after prolonged use of the pipes.

Closest to the claimed technical essence and the achieved result is the sealing material in the form of strips of elastic-plastic plastic polymer - polytetrafluoroethylene, sold under the name Teflon tape on THE 6-05-1388-86 Kirovo-Chepetsk chemical works (see nomenclature "PTFE Products - 4D", 1992, AEO "Kirovo-Chepetsky chemical plant"). Tape FUM depending on the brand has a thickness of a 0.035 - 0,200 mm and a width of 3 to 60 mm, It is widely used in the oil and gas industry for sealing threaded joints of casing and tubing pipes operating at high pressure drops. The disadvantages of Teflon tape are the high cost and inconvenience of use in the field. Due to the lack of sticky adhesive tape FUM weakly retained on the thread and are often blown away by the wind before the introduction of the wound tape is FUM, what, with the lowest coefficient of friction, it is easily extruded from the threaded connection at its make up and so sometimes a threaded connection remains unconsolidated. Manufacturer of Teflon tape with an adhesive layer is difficult due to the lack suitable for this purpose adhesives.

The problem to which this invention is directed, is the creation of a cheap a sealing material suitable for application to a threaded surface in the field and provides reliable sealing threaded joints of pipes at high pressure drops.

The problem is solved in that the sealing material in the form of a tape made of polyethylene film with a thickness in the range of 0.02 - 0.1 mm and a tensile strength in the range of 10 to 20 MPa, has a sticky adhesive layer of a thickness of not more than half the film thickness and stickiness in the range of 30 - 300 C.

In an advantageous embodiment, the tape may be made of a film of polyethylene (low density) or polyethylene compositions of high and low pressure thickness of 0.05 mm and a tensile strength of 15 MPa. The tensile strength is determined according to GOST 10354-82 and GOST 14236-81.

The material is made by coating on a polyethylene film adhesive compositions roll method, cutting it on tape roller blades and reeling in rolls in plastic or cardboard sleeve. The adhesive composition should not harden during storage and transportation. The proposed material is suitable for sealing threaded joints of pump-compressor pipes according to GOST 633-80 (diameter 33 - 114 mm) and casing pipes according to GOST 632-80 (diameters 114 508 mm). The main factors affecting the sealing ability of the material are the thickness and strength of the film at break. The best filling gaps in the screw connection is provided when the total thickness of film layers 10-20% greater than the transverse size of the gap. In threaded connection tubing and casing pipes this gap is 0.07 to 0.08 mm and the optimum total thickness of the film layers is equal to 0,08-0,10 mm Therefore, when the winding in two layers, the optimum thickness of the single layer film is equal to 0.04 to 0.05 mm, which is confirmed by the results of bench tests (see table).
