Molded tube is designed for a liquid vessel. It contains a thermoplastic elastomer and a blowing agent. Molded tube is particularly suitable for use as synthetic corks for wine bottles. Molded tube does not allow penetration into the vessel of oxygen, but absorbs oxygen from the contents of the vessel. It can be removed from the vessel by means of a corkscrew without substantial expansion, collapse or destruction is not significantly spoil the fluid in the vessel. This description is a partial continuation of patent application U.S. Ser. N 08/058914, registered on may 5, 1993, and have not yet received a patent.

The present invention relates to molded tubes for liquid vessels, the method of their manufacture and to a method for producing bottles, corked such tubes. One aspect of the invention relates to molded stoppers for bottles, in particular bottles of thermoplastic ELAST is relevant to the method of manufacturing a molded tubes, such as stoppers for wine bottles, and to a method for corked wine bottles.

The most widely used material for the manufacture of capsules funds for bottles is natural cork. The composition of the tube and the structural relationship between the outer shell and a porous core tube can be critical for bridging opportunities finally formed tube. Also known molded stoppers for wine bottles, containing a thermoplastic resin and a blowing agent, as in an embodiment having a radius on the edge, to facilitate the introduction of the tube into the neck of the bottle. This technical solution relating to the priests of the saints above, are typical for these caps.

The main objective of the present invention is to provide a molded tube for liquid receptacles comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a foaming substance, which when placed in a liquid vessel has a high resistance to the penetration of oxygen and little spoil or not to spoil the product. Molded tube may also be made for narodnosti vessels.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide a composition that can be prepared for generation of the required tubes for liquid vessels, for example wine bottles.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide a composition for the manufacture of tubes for liquid vessels that have absolutely everything desirable quality natural cork and preferably do not have undesirable properties.

Another objective of the present invention is to provide a method of injection during stuffing tubes for liquid vessels.

In addition, another objective of the present invention to provide a novel composition and method of manufacturing the tube, securely seal the liquid vessel immediately when placed in the present invention, preferably formed in the shape and size of natural cork for wine bottles. It essentially uniform in size, configuration and weight and aesthetically pleasing. Detailed description of the invention

According to one aspect of the present invention features a molded tube for liquid vessels, which can serve as a substitute for natural cork, and there is the possibility to adjust its size, shape, surface structure, surface lubricity, flexibility, elasticity, density distribution and visual appeal.

Accordingly, the characteristic of the present invention is molded tube for a liquid vessel, preferably for wine bottles, containing TPE and foaming agent in proportions that provide the ability of cork to cork a bottle of wine, thus preventing its leakage, and the ability to prevent the penetration of oxygen from the atmosphere into wine, while substantially not absorbing oxygen from the wine or the air space inside the bottle between the cork and the wine. Molded tube, including its surface in contact with the vessel, can be printed symbols, and the vessel may be laid on its side immediately after placing him in a molded tube. According to another aspect of the invention molded tube runs from a mixture that includes one or more TPE and one or more foaming agents. Measuring the Durometer hardness of the TPE used for the manufacture of molded Ave 71A or about to about 75A 80A, TPE generally comprises from about 70% to about 97% of the total composition, typically from about 80% to about 95% and preferably from about 90% to about 95% by volume. TPE interacts weakly (or spoils) or does not interact with liquids, such as wine. TPE also has the necessary compression force for improved seal and long service life. TPE is easily processed, allows fast cycle times and high productivity. In addition, TPE satisfy the requirements of A FD relating to indirect food additives that may come into contact with food.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention TPE contains styrene block-co polymer, and preferably one or more joint polymers styrene-ethylene-ethylene-styrene (SEBS), styrene-ethylene-butylene, styrene-butadiene-styrene, styrene-butadiene, styrene-isoprene-styrene, styrene-isoprene, styrene-ethylene-propylene-styrene and styrene-ethylene-propylene. The inclusion of styrene block-co polymer, and in particular SALT, gives a special advantage in the manufacture of molded tube (especially if the moulded plug is designed for wine), such as joint polymers give a molded tube excellent quality is. In another preferred embodiment of the invention applied styrene block-co polymer SALT.

Examples of such joint polymers SEBS are J-VON, DYNAFLEX GS 6771-000 and DYNAFLEX G X6768-1000 with the necessary thermal and ozone resistance, ensuring long service life. Foaming substance is usually more than 1% of the composition, which is in the range from at least about 1.3%, to 1.5% or 2% of the composition and less than about 9.0%, 5,0%, about 4.0% or 3.0% of the composition. Preferably, the foaming substance is from about 1.3% to about 3.0% of the composition, typically from about 1.5% to about 2.5% and preferably about 2% of the composition. The exact amount used foaming agent may be determined by the specialist with regard to the exact amount of polymer, foaming agents and other components, as well as conditions of molding. In a preferred variant of the invention, the foaming substance is SpectratechFMII50H, which can be supplied from Quantum Chemical Corp., USI Division, Cincinnati, Ohio. Spectratech FMII50H is a connection-based polyolefin, comprising endothermic foam concentrate based on low density polyethylene, containing 50% resin of the formula CH3-(CH2)n-CH3and 50% of the combination of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and citric acid. Best qualities SpectratechFMII50H are quick release, improved cycle process, improved density distribution and excellent surface quality for molding products. Additionally, there may be used other suitable foaming agents such as nitrocarbonyl, azodicarbonamide and sodium bicarbonate. Can also be applied to other foaming substances without deviation from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

In another embodiment, the invention may apply one or more fillers in combination with TPE and other additives.to about 20% or more of the total composition, preferably up to about 5% of the composition. In another embodiment of the invention in a mixture of TPE and other substances added to powdered or liquid pigment. Powder or liquid pigments generally are less than about 1% of the total composition. Preferably, the pigment is pre-mixed with a thermoplastic resinous substance, such as polypropylene, and/or with part of TPE before it was added to the main batch of TPE and other substances.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the composition includes about 96% TPE, about 2% foaming substances, about 2% of polypropylene, low density, and the minimum number of pigment. In another preferred embodiment of the invention the pigment, polypropylene and about 2% TPE pre-mixed and then fed in the form of a homogeneous mixture in the rest of TPE and foaming agent. In an alternative preferred embodiment of the invention, when in the line-up also included a filler, the composition includes from about 75% to about 95% TPE, from about 1.5% to about 2.5% of the foaming washes and added lubricant, such as fatty acid, silicone, alcohol or water (including mineral water), which may facilitate the premises of the molded tube in the vessel. Preferably the lubricant is a fatty acid that is less than about 0.5% of the total composition.

Another aspect of the present invention provides for the creation of a molded tube with rounded edges, or radii, which are preferably convex. Preferably, the radii are available on both edges (top and bottom) of the tube. This aspect of the invention is preferably applied to the molded tubes, including TPE, but also applies to molded tubes, which are made from conventional thermoplastic resins, non-TPE. This radius allows easier and more efficient premises thermoformed tube in the vessel (in particular, in the wine bottle), allows you to save more uniform outer surface when the molded tube is placed in a vessel, and should facilitate the ability of the molded tube to allow placement of the vessel on one side essentially immediately after placing him in a molded tube.

The forming temperature generally ranges from about 300oFahrenheit (F) to about 550oF, typically from about 325oF to about 425oF and preferably from about 350oF to about 400oF, and more preferably about 375oF. the Mixture is contained in a form within from about 20 seconds to about 90 seconds, typically from about 30 seconds to about 80 seconds, and preferably from about 35 seconds to about 60 seconds.
