The present invention relates to a portable cleaning device and, in particular, but not exclusively, to a vacuum cleaner, a cylindrical type.

The main difficulties in the use of vacuum cleaners occur in the process of cleaning the stairs. Ideally, the cleaner should be fitted with a very long hose, so that the device can be left at the bottom of the stairs, and with a hose to get to the top of the stairs. In Fig. 1 is a schematic side view of the vacuum cleaner 10, which is the subject of the present invention and installed on a flight of stairs 20. Shown in the drawings, the vacuum cleaner 10 is vacuum cylindrical type, i.e., only the inlet pyleudalyayuschemu device is in the head part or the device connected to the device through a hose. The body 12 of the vacuum cleaner 10 has a bottom surface 16. Wheels 18a, 18b serve as supporting means of the vacuum cleaner 10 when using it on a flat surface. It can be assumed that the wheels 18a, 18b can be replaced with any other form of supporting means of the vacuum cleaner 10, although these supporting means preferably should be of a nature to allow easily move the vacuum cleaner 10 on a flat surface. Wheels 18a, 18b can be replaced by rollers, wheels, piano type, with skids or runners, which equally can have any desired dimensions. It is not necessary that the wheels 18a, 18b differed by size.

The bottom surface 16 attached to this form, in which it contains stretches up the notch 30, running across the entire width of the bottom surface 16 (see Fig. 2). The recess 30 is formed of the inclined sections 32, 34 of the bottom surface 16, and the inclined uchashcheisya with a sloped section 34 essentially at a right angle. Ramps 32, 34 need not be of equal length, although a significant difference in length between the ramps 32, 34 may be harmful. In addition, the angle at the apex 36 need not necessarily be direct, although significant deviations from the 90owould be undesirable. However, the notch 30 should ideally be designed so as to be essentially symmetrical about an axis, generally perpendicular to the bottom surface 16. This allows, if necessary, change the position of the cleaning device 10 opposite to the ladder 20.

The lower part 16 attached to this form, in which, when the vacuum cleaner 19 leans over the desired angle and placed on the successive steps of the staircase, part of the lower surface 16 or the housing 12 are in direct contact with the upper surfaces of the respective rungs of the ladder. Wheels 18a, 18b are thus not in contact with the ladder 20. As shown in Fig. 1, the contact points of the lower surface 16 with the stairs 20 when placing the vacuum cleaner 10 on the ladder are preferably angular sections. This helps the vacuum cleaner 10 to be hooked over the upper surface of the steps 20 steps and minimizes wereat be provided with means to enhance engagement, not shown in the figures, for example, at the contact points can be placed strip of rubber or plastics, with non-slip surfaces.
