Fibrous material can be cut into strips or strands suitable for use in the Automated Tape Line (ATL) or Automated Fiber Laying (AFP) process. Fibrous material is suitable for the formation of blanks arranged to receive resin by resin impregnation in the manufacture of components from composite structural materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of making prepreg used in production of multilayer polymer composites for aerospace engineering, car and ship building, etc, wherein heat protection materials with high heat resistance properties. Proposed method comprises placing workpiece into sealed container, evacuation of sealed container with workpiece, reiterated impregnation of workpiece in vacuum with polymer binder with subsequent reiterated drying. Pre-impregnation is performed before evacuation by dipping siliceous or siliceous-kapron workpiece in binder based on phenol-formaldehyde resin with content of solvent making 50-60 wt %. Note here that pre-impregnation and impregnation in vacuum are carried in fractions with total amount equal to design amount of binder while reiterated drying is performed at vacuum at P=0.08-0.1 MPa after every impregnation with exposure at t=2510C for 2-2.5 hours while final drying is performed at overpressure P=0.25-0.3 MPa with exposure at t=2510C for 12-13 h.

Said flexible band comprises 70-98% of fiber in terms of band weight and layer of threads of loose yarn with width-to-height ratio of 20-500 in cross-section. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of making a prepreg based on a long woven filler with a different weave and can be used to make articles for transportation, aerospace and other purposes. The method of making the prepreg involves saturating woven filler with 65-75% solution of phenol formaldehyde binder, squeezing through rotating squeeze rolls and drying using a radiation method at temperature 130-160C. A layer of polymer binder with concentration of 81-88% is then deposited on the outside of the prepreg at excess pressure and the prepreg undergoes thermal treatment at 160-180C.

EFFECT: method enables to make prepregs with asymmetric deposition of polymer binder based on fabric made from carbon, glass, organic fibres or combinations thereof, with good strength characteristics of the obtained articles.

Moulding comprises applying compound on glass-containing substrate and removing, at least, a portion water.
