SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of paper, plastics, dyes, coatings, concrete, in agriculture and biotechnology. Rheologically stable aqueous suspension of mineral material contains at least one mineral material and at least one polymer of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid taken in the amount of 0.01 to 10 wt% per total weight of the solid substances in tha suspension. Said polymer is obtained by polymerizing a monomer(s) of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid in water using the compound of formula (I)

where X is Li, Na, K or H, and R is alkyl chain containing 1-5 carbon atoms. Compound of formula (I) is used in the amount of 0.1-2.5 wt% by weight of the said monomer(s). It has weight-average molecular weight Mw from 800 to 8,000 g/mol, coefficient of polydispersity Ip in the range from 2 to 3. Suspension of mineral material has content of volatile organic compounds (VOC) of ≤ 20 mg/kg.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a suspension of mineral material containing organic polymers with low content of VOC while preserving rheological stability and without deterioration of optical properties of the paper produced using the said suspension.

SUBSTANCE: composition comprises a mixture of one of the two porous stable aggregates and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) called grade B OCC or grade C OCC, in combination with the second OCC of non-equal-faced type (OCCNT) - the pigment of fine grinding. The ratio of grade B OCC or grade C OCC and OCC of non-equal-faced type OCCNT is selected in the range from 90/10% to 10/90% by dry weight. The content of dry weight of pigments is selected in the range from 0.3% to 5.0% by dry weight of the finished paper product. Depending on the granulometry of two OCC of fine grinding the said mixture may contain a pigment and/or filler of coarser grinding. The main criterion of selection of the pigment of "coarser grinding" is that it should have a granulometry which does not have influence on the significant deviation in the number of particles smaller than 0.2 microns, preferably less than 0.3 microns, more preferably less than 0.5 micron, the most preferably less than 1 micron.

EFFECT: composition enables to eliminate the print-through through the layer of light thin paper such as newsprint and to improve the technical properties of the paper sheet.

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce a pigment suitable in making paper for ink-jet printing. Precipitated calcium carbonate is obtained by mixing quicklime with water in a reactor or a tank with a mixer, followed by filtration of the calcium hydroxide suspension to remove all residual contaminants and/or non-reactive quicklime. The filtered suspension is then fed into a stainless steel reactor fitted with a mixer. Temperature is kept in the range of 10-70°C, after which the suspension is fed into a carbonisation reactor, where a carbon dioxide-containing gas is bubbled through the suspension. The carbonisation step is carried out at carbonisation gas flow rate of less than 30 litres per minute per kilogram of calcium hydroxide during precipitation under normal conditions. The suspension is removed from the tank when conductivity reaches the minimum level and pH drops below 8, wherein large particles are removed through a filter. The obtained calcium carbonate can be used as a pigment.

EFFECT: invention improves the quality of ink-jet printing while reducing the cost of production of paper for ink-jet printing.

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: titanium dioxide based pigment contains titanium dioxide particles in rutile form, having a coating. The coating contains aluminium phosphate, aluminium oxide, titanium oxide and silicon oxide. The particles are characterised by specific surface area, calculated according to a Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) equation, of at least 15 m2/g. To obtain coated pigments, an aqueous suspension of uncoated titanium dioxide particles is prepared first, followed by addition of aluminium-containing and phosphorus-containing components. Further, while maintaining pH 4-9, an alkaline silicon-containing component and at least one pH regulating component, one of which is an acidic titanium-containing component, are then added. The formed suspension is then filtered, washed and dried and the precipitate is ground to obtain coated particles.

SUBSTANCE: titanium dioxide based pigment, containing titanium dioxide particles, has a coating layer containing aluminium phosphate and aluminium oxide, and said layer additionally contains hollow particles. To obtain said pigment, aqueous suspension of titanium dioxide is prepared first, and aluminium- and phosphorus-containing components are then added, after which hollow particles are added and pH of the suspension is brought to 4-9. Also, aqueous suspension of titanium dioxide can be obtained at pH not lower than 10, and aluminium- and phosphorus-containing components can then be added while maintaining pH of at least 10, after which hollow particles are added. Further, pH of the suspension is brought to 4-9 and an aluminium oxide coating is then applied at pH from 4 to 9.

The additive used for an aqueous suspension of at least one material containing calcium carbonate is 2-aminoethanol in amount of 500-15000 mg, preferably 1000-5000 mg, and more preferably 1300-2000 mg, per litre of the aqueous phase of said suspension. The suspension has pH in the range of 8.5-11 and contains 25-62 vol.% of at least one material containing calcium carbonate, with respect to the total volume of the suspension. A method of obtaining calcium carbonate with a surface subjected to reaction processing in water medium includes a) supply of at least one type of ground natural calcium carbonate (GNCC); b) supply of at least one water-soluble acid; c) supply of gaseous CO2; d) contact of the said GNCC with the said acid and CO2. The said acid of stage b) has pKa higher than 2.5 and lower or equal to 7, measured at 20°C, connected with ionisation of the first available hydrogen, and respective anion, formed with a loss of the said first available hydrogen, capable of forming water-soluble calcium salts. After the contact of the said acid with GNCC supplied is at least one water-soluble salt, which has pKa higher than 7, measured at 20°C, connected with ionisation of the first available hydrogen. The salt anion is capable of forming water-insoluble calcium salts, with cation of the said water-soluble salt being selected from the group, consisting of potassium, sodium, lithium and their mixtures. The anion of the said water-soluble salt is selected from the group, consisting of phosphate, dihydrophosphate, monohydrophosphate, oxalate, silicate, their mixtures and hydrates.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase specific surface of calcium carbonate surface without application of moderately strong and strong acids.

SUBSTANCE: cardboard comprises solid cardboard substrate of bleached sulphate pulp (BSP) and a coating applied to the cardboard substrate to form a coated structure. The said coated structure has a surface density, thickness of the sheet and the Parker surface smoothness. The Parker surface smoothness is at most about 3 microns, and the surface density is at most about Y2 or Y3 or Y4 pound/3000 foot2, where Y2, Y3 and Y4 are functions of the said thickness (X) of the sheet in points which are calculated using the equation: Y2=3.71+13.14X-0.1602X2 or Y3=3.63+12.85X-0.1566X2, or Y4=3.50+12.41X-0.1513X2.

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: to obtain an antifriction material application of a polymer-containing composition on the surface of a basic material from a solution is realised. The following thermal processing and drying are carried out. An ultra-disperse powder of an alkali metal titanate, which has a layered structure, is applied as the basic material. A solution of alkylketon fluorotelomers, obtained by the reaction of tetrafluoroethylene with acetone, is used as the polymer-containing composition. The powder of the basic material is placed in a fluorotelomer solution and the application of covering on its surface is carried out during a 10-600 minute interval under a pressure of not lower than 10 MPa and a temperature of 45-150°C. The following drying is realised at a temperature of not lower than 50°C. As the basic material , for instance, potassium titanate.is applied.
