The technical field

The present invention relates to the healing of wounds. More specifically the present invention relates to a vacuum closure (EOI) RAS, in which the growth factor or other medium is injected into the wound site through the implantation of a tampon EOI to promote wound healing.

Prior art

Closure of wounds is associated with an inward migration of epithelial and subcutaneous tissue adjacent to the wound. This migration usually contributes to the inflammatory process by increasing blood flow and are activated by different functional types of cells. Because of the inflammatory process the bloodstream through damaged or broken blood vessels stops occlusion

the capillary level, and then can begin the processes of purification and reparation. Unfortunately, this process is hampered when the wound is large or has become infected. In such wounds zone of stasis (i.e., the zone in which localized swelling of the Kani restricts the blood flow to the tissues) is formed near the surface of the wound.

Without sufficient blood flow, epithelial and subcutaneous tissue surrounding the wound, not only receive a reduced amount of oxygen and nutrients, but also less able to successfully fight bacterial infection and, thus, less able to close the wound in a natural way. Until recently, in the treatment of such wounds used joints or brackets. Although such techniques mechanical wound closure is still widely used, and often effective, they have the main drawback consisting in the fact that they create tension in the skin tissue adjacent to the wound. In particular, the tensile force required for closure using sutures or brackets, causes very high localized stress at the point of introduction of the suture thread or brackets. This stress usually leads to tearing of the tissue at the point of introduction, which ultimately can cause wound dehiscence and additional loss of tissue.

In addition, some wounds due to infection harden and become inflamed to such an extent that the closure overlay brackets or seams impossible. Wound repair which is impossible with the use of sutures or brackets, generally require prolonged hospitalization, with its attendant high cost and extensive surgical procedures, such as

the grafts of the surrounding tissues. P is emery RAS, which is not easy to treat the imposition of brackets or seams include large, deep, open wounds; ulcers with bedsores, ulcers caused by chronic osteomyelitis and burns partial depth, which later progressed into a deep burns with the defeat of the entire thickness of the skin.

To address these and other shortcomings of mechanical devices for wound closure have been developed methods and devices draining wounds supply a constant negative pressure. It was found that such negative pressure when applying for a sufficient area of the wound promotes migration towards the wound epithelial and subcutaneous tissues. In practice, the supply to the wound negative pressure, commonly referred to as treatment vacuum closure (EOI) RAS usually involves a reduction in the wound, like mechanical, with simultaneous removal of excess fluid. Thus, treatment of the OT enhances the natural inflammatory process of the body, at the same time facilitating many well-known inherent side effects, such as the formation of edema caused by increased blood flow in the absence of vascular structures for the corresponding venous return.

Although the treatment of the OT was highly successful in terms of facilitating the closing of the Russian Academy of Sciences, sailaja many wounds that previously were considered significant when epine incurable, some problems remain. Because the inflammatory process is very unusual for each individual patient, even adding treatment EOI does not lead to a fairly rapid reaction, especially during the

the stage of occlusion, the initial purification and reparation for adequate healing some wounds. Therefore, the main object of the present invention is the provision of a method and device by which known treatments EOI will be improved through the introduction of growth factors and/or other means that promote the healing of wounds.

Description of the invention

In accordance with the above objectives the present invention is a method and apparatus for introduction into a wound treated with a vacuum closure (EOI) wound, means for wound healing in General contains a foam swab to introduce essentially in the wound site and the material for covering wounds to seal put a foam pad at the wound site. In accordance with the invention, a foam swab is communicated through the fluid with a vacuum source to facilitate the drainage of fluid. In addition, the foam swab through implantation or other techniques known to experts in the field, pre-impregnated with a major growth factor for fibroblasts (bFGF), anti-microbial means or other the mi factors also known specialists in this field, to promote enhanced wound healing.

In accordance with the preferred method of the present invention the growth factor or other remedy for healing wounds is added to the previously known treatment of the OT through the necessary modification of the device of foam swab for EOI. It is known that such growth factors as the main growth

factor fibroblasts (bFGF), accelerate the healing of wounds due to their high activity against angiogenesis and formation of granulation tissue. As has been shown, even when it is difficult healing wounds, such as infected wounds, burn wounds and diabetic wounds of the final activity led to rapid reepithelization and reduce injuries. Therefore, the combination treatment of the OT with the introduction of the growth factor by changing the foam pad and its preliminary release of bFGF is an important contribution to the treatment of wounds.

Finally, many other characteristics, objectives and advantages of the present invention will be obvious to experts in the relevant fields, especially in light of the above discussions, the following drawings, detailed illustrative description and the accompanying claims.

Brief description of drawing

Although the range of the present invention is much broader than any the th specific embodiment, a detailed description of the preferred embodiments shown in the drawing, where the same designating numerals refer to identical components, and shows a perspective view with partial cut of the preferred embodiments of the present invention, superimposed on the wound site in a mammal.

The best way of carrying out the invention

Though experts in this field can easily define a set of alternative implementations, especially in light of the illustrations presented here, this detailed description is for illustrative preferred embodiments of the present invention is a vacuum system for wound closure with securing means entering, the range of which is limited only by the attached claims.

In the drawing 10 is shown as comprising, in General, the foam pad 11 for introducing essentially in the wound site 12 and the material 13 to cover the wound to seal the attached foam pad 11 in the wound site 12. In accordance with the invention, the foam pad 11 is communicated in fluid with a vacuum source to facilitate the drainage of fluid. In addition, the foam pad 11 by means of implantation or other techniques known to experts in the field, pre-impregnated with a major growth factor for fibroblasts bFGF), anti-microbial means or other factors, also known specialists in this field, to promote enhanced wound healing.

In accordance with a preferred implementation of the present invention the foam pad 11, the material 13 to cover the wound and the vacuum source is performed, as is known from the prior art, each of which is described in detail in the patent application U.S. under serial number 08/517901, filed August 22, 1995 for a Full description of the patent application, U.S. serial number 08/517901, including

the claims and the drawings included here and set forth in its entirety. In addition, such a device for EOI widely sold from the company Kinetic Concepts, Inc. Of San Antonio, Texas, USA and/or its affiliates.

As described in detail in the application '901, the foam pad 11 preferably contains visocosity, otkrytochno polyurethane or polyester foam for a good permeability of wound fluid in terms of suction, but in this application the tampon can include coating the normal spongy pulp type, as it is necessary to introduce the desired funds. As described in detail in the application '901, the foam pad 11 preferably is communicated through the fluid through the tube 14 of plastic or similar material with a vacuum source, which is preferably in the cancel the canister, securely placed in a vacuum in a message through the fluid with a vacuum pump placed between the hydrophobic membrane filter. Finally, the application '901 is also described in detail the material 13 to cover the wound, which preferably contains an elastomeric material, at least on the periphery covered with adhesive under pressure acrylic adhesive for sealing overlay on top of the wound site 12.

In accordance with a preferred implementation of the present invention the components that are described in the application '901, in General, applied, as is well known in this field, except that the foam pad 11 of the present invention modified as necessary for the introduction of a growth factor. It is known that such growth factors as the main

the growth factor of the fibroblast (bFGF), accelerate the healing of wounds due to their high activity in terms of angiogenesis and formation of granulation tissue. As has been shown, even when it is difficult healing wounds, such as infected wounds, burn wounds and diabetic wounds of the final activity led to rapid reepithelization and reduce injuries. For example, specialists in this field it will be understood that although the preferred embodiment of the present invention includes applying the desired funds to the foam pad 11 of the device for EOI, specialists in this area to take advantage of this illustrative description easily recognize many essentially equivalent ways of making the desired funds. For example, in the case of the foam pad 11, which has not been pre-impregnated tool or which has been pre-impregnated tool that over time

subsequent fully entered the wound site 12, the desired tool can be injected with a needle and syringe or the like through the material 13 to cover the wound, the foam pad 11. Industrial applicability

The present invention is applicable in areas related to wound healing.

1. 2. The device according to claim 1, wherein said factor contributing to the healing of wounds, includes a major growth factor for fibroblasts.

3. The device according to claim 2, the which specified the main growth factor of the fibroblast made in the specified porous pad.

4. The device according to claim 1, wherein said factor contributing to the healing of wounds, includes antimicrobial agent.

5. The device according to claim 4, in which the specified antimicrobial agent comprises an antibiotic.

6. The device according to claim 1, wherein said porous pad pre-soaked many factors that contribute to the healing of wounds.

7. The device according to claim 1, in which the device is made with the possibility of introducing in the specified porous swab number of factors contributing to the healing of wounds, injection through the specified material for covering wounds.

8. The device according to claim 7, in which the device is made with the possibility of introducing a specified number of factors contributing to the healing of wounds, in addition to the specified factor contributing to the healing of wounds, which are pre-impregnated porous specified swab.

9. The device according to claim 8, in which the indicated number of factors contributing to the healing of wounds, includes the same type of factor as the factor contributing to the healing of wounds, which are pre-impregnated porous specified swab.
